Wedding invitations

So, I got my niece's wedding invitation the other day, and this is something that I've never been able to figure out. Why put it in two envelopes and what's with the tissue paper?

Tissue paper is probably because they think Japan has no TP

Tear off a small square of the tissue paper. Put it on your tongue and keep it there for a little while. If you start feeling kind of weird, they sent you a present. If nothing happens, it's there because some chick a long time ago, for some unknown reason, decided she wanted a little slip of tissue paper in her wedding invite. Her friends saw this and declared that it was good, and that they would also put little peices of tissue paper in their invites. The idea spread and soon all women decided that their wedding experience would not be complete unless that little slip of paper was in the invite.

It's there to bewilder us so that we don't think thoroughly about buying expensive housewares for distant relatives.

I may sound stupid but here goes....

The tissue paper is in there so that the ink does not run/transfer to any other part of the invite.

If I remember correctly......the outside envelope is for an name/address only, the actual invite is in it's own envelope with just the person/persons who are invited to the wedding. If there is more than one person, technically you are supposed to send more than one invite in the main envelope. (i.e. if you live with your parents and are over 18 you would bring a date so one envelope would say Mr. & Mrs. John Smith and the other would say Mr. Mike Smith and Guest) Typically if you are going to an invite only wedding (not common) you can carry the invite in the envelope as well. The RSVP card and envelope are also separate in the first envelope.

Why do you care anyway, sounds to me?
