Wordsmiths look over my constitution please

i have to submit this to the student government association tonight and go before them. i have done this before only to look like a tool because of little errors. My buddies and I started this club so we can fish big12 tournaments. Much thanks. sorry for the screwy format, word

ARTICLE I

Name of Organization:
The name of this organization shall be OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY BASS FISHING CLUB hereinafter referred to as “OSUBFC.”

ARTICLE II

Purpose:
The purpose OSUBFC shall be to provide OSU students an opportunity to leisurely, as well as competitively, enjoy the sport of Bass fishing. Anglers will also work together in conservation, restoration, sportsmanship, and education in the sport.

ARTICLE III

Officers:
Section 1. The officers of this Organization shall be president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer.

Section 2. The qualifications for officers in this organization shall be any member in good standing with the organization and must be a full time student at Oklahoma State University and must have at least a 2.0 grade point average.

Section 3. The duties of the officer shall be:
1. President
a. Preside over all meetings
b. May Appoint temporary officers
c. Voting power to break a tie
d. May call special meetings
e. Shall be responsible for providing a guest speaker for all meetings
f. Shall act as an official spokesperson for OSUBFC
g. Shall be actively involved in recruiting persons to OSUBFC
2. Vice-President
a. Shall preside over meetings in the absence of the President
b. Shall assist the President when necessary
c. Shall be actively involved in recruiting persons to OSUBFC
3. Secretary
a. Shall keep minutes and records of meetings and social events
b. Shall conduct chapter correspondence within OSUBFC and between OSUBFC and other organizations
c. Shall at all times keep records up to date for review by any member
d. Shall be responsible for publishing all meetings dates/events in the form of a newsletter or similar medium
e. Shall be actively involved in recruiting persons to OSUBFC
4. Treasurer
a. Shall keep a current and valid financial statement that can be reviewed by any member at any time
b. Shall be responsible for collecting dues and providing receipts to paid members
c. Shall keep membership records
d. Shall be in charge of sending due reminders to members who have not paid within one week of the due deadline.
e. Shall be actively involved in recruiting people for OSUBFC.

Section 4. The elections of this organization:
a. Officers shall serve for a period of one full year (one fall and one spring semester)
b. Elections shall be held in the last meeting of the school year (April meeting of the spring semester)
c. Officers begin there terms the last day of the school year following elections (i.e. elected April 2006 term begins May 2006)

Section 5. Faculty advisor:
a. Shall serve one year term with the same duration as the officers of OSUBFC
b. Advise officers and members at meetings and events
c. Help coordinate with officers for guest speakers

ARTICLE IV

Membership:
1. Active members
a. Active members in good standing may vote and participate in all business brought before this organization
b. Active members must pay dues (as outlined below)
c. Active members must attend at minimum 6 meetings
2. Honorary members
a. Shall be any persons who assist OSUBFC in some extraordinary form





ARTICLE V

Dues:
1. Dues must be paid no later than the second meeting session of the semester. (spring – February meeting, fall – September meeting)
2. Dues amounts can be changed by majority vote at any regular meeting.
3. Dues shall not be changed for the current semester after the first regular meeting of the semester (spring - fall)
4. OSUBFC funds will not be released unless authorized by the treasurer, president, and the advisor.

ARTICLE VI

Meetings:
1. Shall be held at a minimum of once a month
2. Shall be the first Tuesday of each month at a time and place specified at the first officers meeting of each semester.
3. Special meeting may be called at any time by the president
4. Officer meetings will be held at a time specified by the current officers prior to the following meeting.
5. Quorum of 50% plus one

ARTICLE VII

Amendments to constitution:
1. Amendments must be summated to the OSUBFC officers in writing two weeks before a regular meeting.
2. Officers will review the proposed amendments and receive advisors approval to place them on the agenda
3. The proposed amendments must be read to the members attending the first regular meeting following the submittal
4. The amendments must pass by two-thirds majority vote at which the amendment is read
5. If the amendment does not pass it shall not be resubmitted for one semester.

ARTICLE VIII

Reports to Campus Life Office:
1. At the beginning of the fall semester, OSUBFC shall report the name of its officers and advisors to the Department of Campus Life, 060 Student Union, and shall promptly report any changes that occur during the school year.
2. At the beginning of the fall semester, OSUBFC will file with the Department of Campus Life a signed “Affirmation of Compliance.”
3. The funds of OSUBFC will be deposited with the university banking services and these will be audited yearly, preferably at the time a new treasurer is instated.
4. It is understood that failure to submit such materials, either through continued negligence or willful omission, may result in the suspension of the charter of this organization by the Committee on Student Organizations.

Do you REALLY want to go by OSUBFC? Wouldn't "The Club" work just as well?

The "Big-O Sub Fuck" club does not look appealing to me. In a quick scan, I saw no references to bacon. Your constitution sucks ass. Bacon should be a constitutional mandate.

hey were are only doing this club so we can fish in the ABA, FLW, BASS, for free with a pro angler. you can fish with any pro you want to as long as your an officer in a college club. also you can fish in the big 12 with prizes starting at 25,000....also covered by FSN.
