Oh noes!!!111 Wolves!!111
Who's afraid of the big bad wolf? Utah Forest Service employees 09:20 AM MDT on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 Associated Press STANLEY -- The U.S. Forest Service in Idaho used a helicopter to evacuate two out-of-state employees who got scared because they heard wolves howling. The agency says this all occurred last month in the Sawtooth National Forest, in the Boise River drainage. The Forest Service researchers from neighboring Utah saw wolves chasing a bull elk across a meadow. Later, the wolves started howling all around them. Ed Waldapfel, a National Forest spokesman, says "They admitted they were very scared and wanted out of there." Waldapfel says they were never threatened, but a chopper swooped in and whisked them away. Steve Nadeau of Idaho Fish and Game says it sounds like someone's read one too many of Grimm's Fairy Tales. He says wolves howl all the time. That's how they communicate. http://www.ktvb.com/news/localnews/s....2a28629e.html |

Fucking hell
I guess I should've been scared shitless when where I used to live, the Rottweilers used to howl at the Coyotes whining in the hills at night. Double-dose of trouble there

Yeah, we camp up in Stanley all the time, and we ALWAYS have critters come through camp. Deer, elk, etc. Where we camp is next to a game trail. We woke up at 3am one morning to a bunch of yipping and look out of the tent to see coyotes bounding through. We do hear wolves howling at night, and it really makes you feel alive.

When I was in Boy Scouts as an adolescent, when we would go camping in the Sierra, there were multiple occassions where I heard a bear behind my tent sniffing around and grunting and shit.
I radioed for the National Guard to come save us But seriously that shit was scary. I was the only one who heard it somehow, I guess I was the last one awake. Thing was RIGHT behind my tent and my friend is just fuckin sawin' logs. I'm sitting there in the dark with my eyes open, and somehow after a couple hours I fell asleep. I remember waking up and not having to open my eyes.

Can you emagin how cool a job it would be to end up out in the woods, gettign to hear and even see wolves in the wild, and getting PAYED for it no less! Fawk, the 2 they "whisked away" should be fired, excucuted, and fed to wolves.

A while back at work somone posted up an 8 month old 1/4 Malamute, 1/4 Artic wolf, 1/2 timber wolf for adoption. Nice looking pup, but not something I wanted to deal with. The new owners live in a trailer and the critter dug a den underneath and would howl at night. That would be kind of cool for a day or 2, but the noise would have to get old pretty quick.
