Seven ancient wonders of the world...

So there is a new list being made up since only one of the original seven remains... Here is the list of 21 that is being voted on:

From here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061017/..._stonehenge_dc

The 21 finalists for the New Seven Wonders of the World, alphabetically:

1 Acropolis, Athens, Greece

2 Alhambra, Granada, Spain

3 Angkor Wat temple, Cambodia

4 Chichen Itza Aztec site, Yucatan, Mexico

5 Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

6 Colosseum, Rome

7 Easter Island Statues, Chile

8 Eiffel Tower, Paris

9 Great Wall, China

10 Hagia Sophia church, Istanbul, Turkey

11 Kyomizu Temple, Kyoto, Japan

12 Kremlin/St.Basil's, Moscow

13 Machu Picchu, Peru

14 Neuschwanstein Castle, Fussen, Germany

17 Statue of Liberty, New York

18 Stonehenge, Amesbury, United Kingdom

original seven wonders of the ancient world were the Hanging Gardens of Babylon; the Statue of Zeus at Olympia; the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus; the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus; the Colossus of Rhodes and the Lighthouse of Alexandria.

Tia Viering, spokeswoman for New7Wonders, said: "Apart from the Pyramids, the seven ancient wonders of the world no longer exist."

Who are the "NewOpenWorld Foundation" and who gave them the right to decide to have new wonders?

Some of those are dumb. Seriously, are the statue of liberty and the Eiffle Tower wonders of the ancient world?

Would you like to buy a carpet?

I liked the Blue Mosque across the street much better.
As for the fancy guys selling the chai tea out on the lawn, watch them putting the dirty cups back at the bottom of the stack.

The great wall wasn't one of the original seven wonders (according to the article).

caught that... but I didn't see it in the list either (sorry, Rox... ), so it boggled me why the statue of liberty would be there and not the wall.

These are the ones I always understood to be the seven wonders of the world. The Pyramids being the only wonder still standing. Colossus of Rhodes is the coolest as far as I'm concerned... I also think that anyone who wants to change the seven wonders of the ancient world is a fawking idiot. Its historical as far as I'm concerned...go rewrite history elsewhere.

Both Machu Picchu and Stonehenge have undergone hypothetical reconstructions. Are they really wonders of an ancient world, or modern fantasys built from old stones?

The ruins of Ephesus, Turkey easily kicks all of Europe's butt.

Included also should be the Terra-cotta Warriors near Xi'anis. To date, a collection of 8,099 life-size terra cotta figures of warriors and horses have been unearthed.
