progress report...

per the other thread, got drunk friday, spewed chunks...

Saturday cleaned out the finished side of the basement, moved all furniture into the guestroom. I then pulled up all the carpeting and the lil bit o' vinyl flooring by the back door.

Sunday I started tiling. Burned out my POS Black and Pecker drill mixing the thinset. I got 100 tiles layed in about 4.5 hrs. Not too shabby, but there is another 400 tiles to go...back at it again this am, I have today and tomorrow off. There is no way in hell it is all gonna git done. I may have to extend my working vacation to get it completed or go mad trying...

By my calculations, you should be able to lay all the rest of the tile in two 9 hour days. Get to work!!!!!

that is about what i figured too, comming down with a cold right now, of course, and I learned an interesting lesson about quickset, it turns solid when left in a covered bucket overnight oh well, everything is peachy so far, but I have yet to get to the brick fireplace where I have to make a few radius cuts to compensate for the curvature of the brickwork...

I have to keep reminding myself that the thinset is not cookie dough, I have caught myself about to like the dough off my fingers more times than I care to admit this morning...

it'll only take once to cure me of that, but I am not willing to tempt fate any more than I have to...taking a break, completed the destruction of the Firestorm drill, I wish I hadn't lost my camera, I had a nice shot of the logo obscured by smoke s'ok though, I have 40 tiles down this am, and I borrowed the FIL's gear reduction drill to mix from here on out...gotta go borrow my buddy's wet saw tonight for all the cuts that will come tomorrow...still I think that this will trun out nice, I won't be able to beat off for weeks due to the significant blister coverage on my palms, but hey, we all make sacrifices

what a long fawkin day....I got a system down, so tha tiles flew into place...took me 2 days to figure out tha bestest way, and it is, so far...going back to the office tomorrow (thank god) for a restful day at work, then gonna piece it in for the rest of the week and finish next weekend...still have around 30 sq. ft. in the main room left, and the guest room to do in its entirety..

but, most of the main room got grouted today and all is proceeding nicely...tomorrow, the cuts..

lesson learned...grout film that dries on tile is a bitch to get off, I actually had to pull out the sander and use plaster screens to remove it without damaging the tile
