Built a new skid plate

It's about time for a new one, I took the old one off to fix where the traction bar ripped a chunk out of it, and it was under so much tension it popped out an inch after I took the last bolt out of the first side.

So anyway. Built a new one. It's 3/16 plate (mainly, some 10g in there) has a one inch drop in the center thats four inches wide, and goes back up to the frame rail on each end. It has a nice little tranny gaurd, to help keep from cracking my massive case... not that thats gonna happen, I've sat the whole Jeep on it all four wheels off the ground at Paragon.

Sorry the pics are so blurry, I'm gonna draw it up in Solidworks just for fun, I'll post that too and I'll take better pictures when its entirely done. I still have to add little pieces of pipe to surround the bolt heads, make a new mount for the traction bar, and I'm gonna brace it back to the frame with some tube and plate, it'll be super stout when its enitrely done.

Flat view, no tranny gaurd yet

Bad picture, but this is the passenger side where I left it open for the fill plug on the tranny.

Solidworks isn't bad, I like it a lot. I also use AutoDesk's Inventor, they both have their pros and cons.

Nice job. I had the same notion. But I let mine hang down a little.
Because of boxed frame I had to mount inside frame rails. I welded a pillow block with captured 5/8" nut on rail. Skid plate has corresponding block with 3/4" hole for 5/8" bolt. 4 bolts and it's on.
