apeters89 Jeep Build / Blue Torch Open House (Must Read)

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.bluetorchfab.com">
<img border="0" src="http://bluetorchfab.com/images/Ads/BTFbannerSPACE.gif" width="300" height="144"></a></p>

OK... Most everyone knows the story of why we are building this cage for free. I don't want to beat a dead horse and cause more drama so I am going to make any comments regarding it. Well the cage build has turned into more of a one day Jeep build. Many more things are going to be going on with the Jeep. I will explain in a bit.

The Official Date for the BTF Open House / apeters89 Cage Build will be January 27, 2007. The event will start at around 7 am at BTF in Dothan, AL.

We will be building a cage in the Jeep that will mount the PRP Seats. It is not going to be a simple cage. It is going to be a Blue Torch Cage. Interco is kicking down a set of tires. 12 Volt Guy is kicking down a in cab switch panel. You know he makes some bling switch panels. One lucky person that shows up to watch or help with the build will win a free set of Interco Tires. Here at BTF we have more plans that what you all have heard. Here is a list of what we are going to attempt to put together.

1. Build a world class Cage with seat mounts

2. Install some Interco tires

3. Install a BTF front bumper and grill hoop kit.

4. Install a set of BTF rocker guards

5. Install a set of BTF comp corners

6. Possibly a BTF rear stretch kit or 4 link the rear with stand alone coils. If we link it we will install a BTF frame back half kit.

7. 12 Volt Guy Switch Panel.

8. Every Pirate Board Member or friend that shows up will get a chance to sign either a banner of the Jeep or on the Jeep somewhere.

9. Install a set of BTF front tube fenders

10. See about working out this driveshaft problem and building a skid plate.

11. Of coarse I will have to print out something on the printer to add a little wrap to the rig.

12. O yeah a fuel cell if we decide to move the rear axle.

13. Trail Ready Bead Lock Wheels on Procomp Wheels

14. Install a Solid Axle Dana 60 rear. (full floater, detroit locker)

15. Install an Art Carr Shifter

Keep in mind some of the things we are going to try to do in one day are going to be time permitting. We feel like we can do everything above in one day with the right help. With the number of people wanting to come down we are not going to be able to allow everyone to help all the time. We are going to have to rope off the work area and only allow those actually working to get up close. Another reason why this has to be is because the producers of "X-Fab" the TV show being filmed at BTF are looking at sending someone to film the day. So we are going to have to create some type of order to this wild and crazy party we are going to have.

One of the big things I want to point out is this. During the build we plan to explain how and why on some parts of the project. This will be a learning experience for you even if you do not get a chance to lay hands on the project. So if you have some questions be ready to ask. In the near future we are going to have organized versions of this build and more info can be found at www.rockmafia.com.

As it stands now we have a large number of people planning to show. We are looking forward to working with, hanging out with, and most of all meeting many people from the PBB. We have few people that are working out the details to be here. Dustin Webster of Team Red Bull is looking at flying out for the build. He is going to get the Red Bull Reps out to the shop to pass out some liquid eneregy... duh... Red Bull. Pat from RP Films is also working out the details to come out and film the event. Never know you might be on a video. I am also working with the producers of the X-Fab Show to have someone out to film. On the Mark is also looking at coming out from Utah to take photos. We are going to do a cover story on this build here on Pirate4x4. We want to highlight how everyone can and will come together when needed. This is simply AWSOME. We are also working with a couple local new outlets to drop in and cover the event. Interco Tire will be sending tires for sure, but we are looking at having a couple people from Interco come over for the day. You guys will be able to ask tire questions until you are blue in the face. If I forgot anyone I will be sure to edit, or as things change we will update this post.

Blue Torch FabWorks, Inc as a company is looking forward to this. As a person I looking forward to doing this for a few simple reasons. It has been a long time since I was involved in a build that was just for fun. This is going to be like the old days when we were building just to build. I am looking forward to meeting many of you and putting a face with the screen name. I would like people to view this as an open house and a way to meet the BTF crew.

I will have some giveaway items for people that make the trip to show up. We will try and have some shirts, stickers, and so on ready for you all. I am working with a local b-que place to cook all the food for the day. I do not have the plans nailed down yet.

This is going to be alot of fun. Please post up and let us know if you are going to make it. We would like to have some idea of how many people are going to show up for this build. It is going to be a fun experience with lots to learn. Please let me know if you have any questions.

TO EVERYONE ON PIRATE4X4 THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. WE ARE WORKING HARD TO GROW OUR COMPANY AND KEEP UP WITH PRODUCT DEMAND. YOU GUYS ARE BUYING PRODUCT FASTER THAN WE CAN MAKE IT. WE ARE WORKING ON A FEW THINGS TO EXPAND AND BETTER MEET YOUR DEMAND IN 2007. WE APPRECIATE ALL OF THE BUSINESS AND KIND WORDS STATED HERE ON THE BOARD.

Giveaways for PBB members showing up at the Open House.

1. One set of Interco Tires

2. Some misc BTF gear

3. Mercer Motorsports is going to give out some WE ROCK T-shirts and some videos.

4. Crawl Magazine is going to give 10 subscriptions to some lucky winners

5. More to come

More info will be added to this post as things develop.

Thanks
Dan DuBose

hotels - Dan noted that the "South" Holiday Inn was real close to his shop. I called and $75.00 per night was the going rate for both Holiday Inn's.

I'm going to go ahead and say that I'm going to come down for it, and I'm fully prepared to get my hands dirty.

If anyone has a floor or couch I can crash on, that would be outstanding, since I'm looking at an 8 hour drive.

Hey, if anyone has some hookups with discounted airfares, PM me. Cheapest airfare I can find from PWM to DHN on evening of the 26(leaving), and leaving DHN to return on the 29th is $440. Ill be there regardless, and volunteer any services needed, but any airfare discounts would be appreciated

Wow, way to step up and make up for someone else's mistake. This is totally un-neccessary but it really shows the character of Dan at BTF and his support for this board.

You know, I've never bought anything from BTF before, but after seeing this I'm going to make it a point to become a loyal customer. I only wish I was closer and could come help.

Dan, you sir have my utmost admiration and are the type of vendor that others should strive to be.

We could do the cage part of the build easy in a day with our crew hammering away on it. Since we are adding a lot of other stuff it is going to be nice to have a few extra hands.

Since the crowd is going to get large we are going to have to limit the number of people in the shop working at one time. Too many will slow things down. We will can rope off the area to have a little crowd control. We can make a list of chores to be done and spread them around. This will allow people to rotate through and have a chance the throw hands on the project.
