Always get supplemental insurance

when you rent snowmobiles

I went tooling around in a snowmobile east of Bear Valley, Ca with my little brother and my dad. We had fun... I had fun... driving over anything I could

it's pretty tame stuff but its still fun to go 50 mph up and down some of the hills

oops #1 My dad bailing into a ditch...

oops #2 Cutting a turn to tight and driving over rocks

oops #3 No pics but bombing through some trees and running over a couple logs

We also went off of the "groomed" trail for some sightseeing fun

I don't know if we broke anything per se but I certainly wouldn't drive over the things I did with my own machine

So the next time you rent something and they ask if you want supplemental insurance, say yes please

I've ben out on sleds a couple times. Some owned by friends, others rentals. Every time I beat the shit out of myself more than anything I could throw at the machines. They're tough little bastards, shy of running them into a tree, nothing could stop them.

The real bitch was burying them in 2-3' of fresh powder and having to pack the snow around them to get going again

You are running a (What 380) on a groomed trail. You can see the trail left by the groomer. If you can't even handle that please don't come to the mountains and ride a real sled. Snowmobiling is not difficult and I doubt you harmed the sleds you were on. Cornering isn't hard, slow down a bit, lean in and hammer it through.

How do you keep from freezing your ass off on one of those things? I wouldn't think one could wear enough laundry to stay warm.

That's because you're from the south.

Dress in layers, it isn't too bad.

This is soooooooooooooo true

First time on a sled for me was a cruise through Yellowstone. Second time on a sled my buddy takes me up outside of Gardner, MT for some "Real" mountain riding. I was on his Ski-Do 800HO with the long track and he was on his at the time brand new Rev1000. All i can say is i have never been so exhausted after a day of "FUN". That shit wore me out. I never realized the skill required for mountain riding. Would love to go again but time and money never seem to work out

As for insurance LOL. Got a friend who went up Cook City and rented a sled, no insurance. He ended up hitting a tree and totaling the sled within 100 yards of the rental shop. His brother had to pay for the sled outright. He had to sell his 68 Camaro to pay his brother back. Now he has a wrecked pos sled and no more dream car.
