Yet another SAS

i never really posted pics of my truck up there year that i have been here and in that year alot has happend
it started with a 6 inch lift

went to a sketchy 20 inch lift that was my first attempt at a SAS

and now here it is
1998 silverado with 15 inches of lift and superduty axles....super lift 10 inch springs up front with 2 leaves taken out...notched frame for the shackle mount...hydro assist...buying new shocks waiting to see what i can afford...almost done..waiting on front driveshaft and paint shop appointment.

yes i know the trac bar is not there... i have it and was having some spacers machined for it

bucket seats with custom center console to come...and black interior(used to be maroon)

Thats a massive amount of lift, those tires look like slicks, your hydro assist cylinder's angle is ridiculous along with your shackle and your don't have any carpet

Its big though, what are you planning to do with it?

the hydro assist angle really isnt too bad works well...im going to make some brackets for it when i have some time...the carpet was ripped out in favor of rhino liner...thats going to be sprayed in when i get it painted...i need to build the center console and maybe a simple roll cage inside...my plans are maybe build a tube frame and 4 link it or keep it leaf sprung mud it and take it to the beach...the tires are just to make it moveable got all 4 from a friend for 50 bucks...im ijust waiting to see what tire and wheels my budget will allow...as for the shackle what angle should it be at...rides smooth, performs, and flexes pretty well for me

It should ideally be angled back about 40-45* give or take.

Is it just me, or does the pass. side tire have a gnarly lean to it?

I know it wouldn't be fun, but if you plan on buildin' a new bumper you can cut off your front hangers and move it forward about 1.5" or so.

well the front hanger is already about 1 inch back from the front of the frame. and if you look at it from the side the axle center line is pretty far foward....what are the negative effects of the shackle being at the angle it is at?

i took a close in inspection at the passenger tire and hub today and other than about 2 mm of play in the ball joints everything was ok...i think it might be the camera angle and the slight slope on the street

any blocks are still ...& just because you're a member of pirate doesn't mean you're knowledgable. some fall in as fucktards & there's some that think that pirate may be going to shit...

true that. but i didn't mean to say you were saying you were knowledgeable, i just meant there's a lot of guy's walking around thinking they know everything. as for the assholes, well i empathize with them because i understand that this is a hardcore 4x4 tech site & people come in here asking what size tire they can run on their ifs ford with a 6" lift...

You're missing a front driveshaft. Do you have any bump steer? Wondering about the tierod/drag link angle.....oh, and the angle of the draglink....? You've got leaf springs....I wouldn't be too concerned about a tracbar. Can you put some teeth in the expanded metal grill....atleast make it look angry. You're in need of tires. Turn thos U-bolts over...or atleast trim them. It is tall, big, and should keep you from getting stuck in the mud...oh wait, no front driveshaft. Lockers? Gears? Looks great...so far!

72blazer,
well true that is a stupid question and those people do deserved to be flamed...but im not one of those people....and i wouldnt mind joining the forum

cj8scrambld,
thanks well it does have bump steer without a tracbar...front drive shaft will be put on when i make a new transmission crossmember to clear it, as of right now...these tires are just placeholders right now... i had 44 groundhawgs about a month ago but sold them...2wd in the mud with mud tires is about all you need down here it seems like.....i decided to go with 38s either toyo muds or kumhos, so 4.88s are what im going to order shortly

2WD in the mud? you must be referring to whalen. lol. you need to join us in harlingen when it rains for a couple of days...plan on burying your truck in 2wd. that place has eaten many 4x4s alive, including my blazer in its previous stage.

I think that is due more to your steering geometry....not the lack of a Tracbar. There are thousands of leaf sprung vehicles that do not have bumpsteer....think about it, research it, learn it, and click apply.
