"New" trailer

I found a trailer yesterday. Looks to be about a 12' x 6' or 7' steel deck. Dual axles (moble home) it was built a while back by a local shop that does awsome work. I can have it for FREE Here is the kicker though. It has a 16' or 17' mobile satalite dish mounted to the deck. I have to take the dish with it.

Anybody need a really big bird bath or new swimming pool ;D I will have to wait for the snow to clear so I can go get it but I am happy as a pig rollin in a pile of shit!

A little wire brushing and some paint and it should be a really good trailer to haul the Zuk around on.

Kevin

Beware, mobile home axles are basically "one way" axles, not designed for long-term use. Since it's "free," you're still money ahead if you replace them with the real thing.

nothing really wrong with mobile home axles - other than them being "illegal" or so I've been told AND finding replacement brakes for them can sometimes be a bitch.

I know for mine - I coudln't find brake parts, and any never cared for that funky bolt/wedge lugnut operation. But it was the lack of replacement parts that really caused me to swap out my axles.

I was told mobile home axles but I am not sure after looking at it closer this morning. It has a standard styl rim and not a donut style. It does have the 14.5" rim though.

In the pics it sure does *not* look like the standard "wide 5" 14.5-inch rim mobile home axles.

almost every mobile home I've been under the axles were missing so I figured they dropped the house and then reused the axles

Once you figure out how to transport the satellite dish you can scrap it and get a 100 bucks. So free trailer and a 100 bucks for a bit of a hassle of getting the dish out of there. Sweet!

I've seen some pretty cool gazebos made of old satellite dishes and scrap steel. Once they get covered with vines, no one knows. Someone on craigslist will probably give you money for it, if not, someone will damn sure take it for free.

theres really more to mobile home axles than what meets the eye.. They almost always use the same bolt spindle as a 5200/6000/7000lb dexter axle, so you can swap hubs one them, and you can also use normal 12x2 dexter brakes on them.
most of them run the standard dayton hub, but just because is uses 14.5" dayton style wheel, doesn't mean they are house trailer axles, many older lowboys ran them also(hense how you can get "14.5 inch lowboy" tires)

Also, not all house trailer axles use centerless wheels, they also came with 5x5.5" ford patterns, and 6X5.5 chevy patterns...

Why not just make the dish a giant "sled"... strap it behind a truck, find a snowy field, get some buddies to ride and have at it!

Yeah, no shit! You could do the Chevy Chase scene on X-mas vacation----only with about 10 people in the dish!

Find some local skaters. they'll take it. back in the day a guy around the corner had a bowl ramp built out of one.
