My boys first test drive

My oldest boy finally got to test drive the buggy we have been building together for the past 6 months. The smile on his face from the excitment was enough to make any father proud. Pics are poor quality because they were taken with a cell phone but he is smiling i promise.

Nothing exciting for the motor. Just a 13 hp honda knock off with electic start and back up pull start. The frame is 1 1/4" .095 wall hrew and the a-arms are 1" .095 wall hrew. 1/2" heims on the front and just a swing arm in the back. Comet 40 series torque converter. The tank is a 6 gallon vw plastic tank. Has running, brake and head lights, adjustable seat and i mounted a chevy blazer horn so he can get some attention if wanted or needed. 25" rear tires, 22" fronts. Went with rears in the front for temp reasons but they kinda look cool and he likes them so we may keep them on. Not a bad toy for an 11 year old. Now i have to build two more for my other kids.

Freakin bad ass, I can't tell you how many hours I spent in my old go cart when I was little (mine was not as high tech as that though, just a 6hp Tecumseh and some little quad tires), kinda still wish I had the thing now.

i would swap the fronts side to side so the directional pattern looks right but other than that you just made me miss my go cart when i was a kid as well. I just had one with a 3 hp briggs and no cage and 8" tires that would get stuck in tall grass. but i had a blast on it anyways...

Nice work man, Im currently sticking a Aprilia rs250 motor into a gokart, 72Hp at 13,400rpm 5 speed manual... i hope it goes alright.

I have a 13hp Honda Motor sitting in my shed, problem is, the tourqe converters are about $400-700AU over here in Australia about 250-400US.

My friend has/had one of those, that thing was the cause of so much fun, yet so much pain. Well, it wasn't painful till we decided it was a good idea to pull eachother on a knee board with it, those little clutches don't pull that much from a stand still, so we had to jerk the thing to get moving, and my friend took the whole 20 feet of rope to get going, I think I can still find the divot in his lawn from my head.
