2 years ago they gave her 30 days, rest in peace my friend

Two years ago my little girl got sick, almost lost her. She pulled through, but adult onset diabeties came with it. Her insides were all sorts of fucked up, yet she still wagged her tail to greet me.

I loved that dog and 30 days was not acceptable to me or to her. Together we got back in shape, both of us lost about 20 lbs. Abby's health improved, but with her health opportunities we had to be carefull, well I had to be carefull. That dog loved to eat, like a fat kid at a buffet. Insulin shots, midnight walks... hell I sold a brand new truck in order to afford her monthly medical needs. We had two great years. My little girl got to see me get married. She loved the woman of my dreams as much as I do. She tolerated having two children move in. She got to meet my son. I wish he could have had the chance to make memories with her. I'll never have another dog like her. That dog stuck by me through some rough times, I'll never forget her or stop missing her.

I miss you baby.

My wife and I had thought of getting a new puppy for months. I refused to do that to Abby. I had enough trouble keeping the kids from feeding her candy, much less to have a puppy to complicate things. Well the kids wanted a puppy so bad, friend of a friend type thing and we wound up with Spuds Mackenzie's grand daughter or great grandoughter.... whatever... she is very sweet, almost calm for a pup too! I do feel bad for my wife though. Angel is a mama's girl. Now she has Nick, Rowan, Angel, Gabe, and myself all wanting attention. Gabe is now one month old, Rowan will be three end of the month, Nick will be six in July.... we have our hands full.

Brector, it is tough. I feel for you. I started crying several times just trying to type that. Some people don't understand how devastating the loss of a pet can be. All of mine have been family, not like family. Cancer is a tough one, I hope she is not in too much pain.

The say that your dogs are the first to meet you in heaven, I'll get to see my girl again then.

Bummer. We had 3 dogs at oner time, now down to one. Both pretty much died of old age. The last one is an almost-blind, almost-deaf cocker with runny eyes (gotta clean 'em every night). He's 16 years old which makes him over 100 in dog years. I'm amazed he made it through the winter this year.

Sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry

Seems like every day Maxi has something else going on that worries me. I'm torn between wishing she can just pass away peacefully in her sleep and not knowing what the hell I'm going to do without my best friend of 15 years

fucking allergies, making my eyes water

This makes me sad. I dread the day it happens to Varga. She is the best dog ever and I doubt another will have her personality, so I can feel your pain.

I almost cried bringing her home from the vet today just for an xray. She is my daughter, I'd do anything for her. I understand how you feel completely. She is in no pain right now, as soon as she is, daddy will have her put to sleep.

I can only hope they are

I'm sorry for your loss.

This really hits home with me as my baby (14 yrs) is getting close to joining yours. She's been with me longer than my wife & kids. She particpated in our outdoor wedding She's got some issues and last November the vet suggested I put her down but we're not ready. She's full of sunshine every morning and still loves to take walks, although they are much shorter and take much longer now.

I hope I can handle it as well as you when the day comes to say goodbye...

RIP I lost the dog of my childhood 3 weeks ago. He was 16 years old. I know what you are going thru. Having an animal for 1/2 your life really makes an impact on a person.

Thank you all, and my heart goes out to you as well...

I couldn't talk about Abby being gone for a week. We went on a walk that Friday, family goes for walks, Abby was always at my side. That night she became ill, throwing up all over the place. Saturday she started shitting blood. Called my vet, she told me to do a few things for her and to call the emergency vet if she got worse. We set up an appointment for Monday morning. Unfortunately my vet was in Colorado at the time or I would have gone to her house or met her at the office. Well Saturday night she got a little better. Sunday morning she just slept, slept most of the day. Sunday night she got worse. I called the emergency vet, first thing they want to know is how I am going to pay to put the dog down... I hadn't even told them what was wrong! I told them I had money, I need her checked out not put down... uh huh.. "disposal of the carcass is xxx" click is the next thing she heard. If she was going to die, it wouldn't be like that.

Through out the night I tried to keep her hydrated. She died in my arms at 3:06 am. I burried her next to a pine tree at my grandparents farm later that morning.

RIP. Sad thing indeed.

The mutt I stole 15 years ago and saved from certian death due to malnutrition (he had ricketts at about 14 weeks, walked on the backside of his wrists) was put down due to hip and back problems 5 years ago. I miss Max every day.

Sorry man! I lost my Zoe in January - but she also beat a cancer death sentence by 12 months. Cry now while you can, and remember the good times!

Damn you, you made me cry again. Sorry for your loss.

RIP all of our pets we've lost.

I'm force-feeding a cat right now, trying to keep him alive. Lost two in the past year, not gonna lose this one.

My brother n law and his wife just lost the coolest dog that they had for almost 10 years. It was nice yesterday morning so they let him out while they went to work. Big storm came and he is no where to be found. He was terrified of storms.

Sorry for your loss.

Damn allergies. I'm sorry about Abby---she was a cutie.

We all know the day will come when we have to say goodbye to our furry buddies, but nothing can really prepare you.

It's a shame that all pet owners don't love and appreciate their animals like you do. Thanks for the sharing the pictures and your story.

I'm glad she got to stay with you until the end, even though it had to be very hard for you. If I have to take my pup in for "the shot" I intend to take her back home for burial too. No way will I let them "dispose of the carcass".

If they tell me they can't (might be laws) then 'll take her for a last Jeep ride and do it myself in the desert.
