Update. Got everything off the frame. cut off leaf mounts, motor mounts, X-member mounts, etc.
Biggest problem has been that the frame was absolutely packed tight with gravel dust and gravel rocks from 560K+ miles of rural mail duty. Took AWHILE to dilute the almost concrete mixture with water and stab it with wire to get it cleaned out. Observe... ![]() Daner 60 is stripped down to housing and knuckles and is setting patiently with the frame on the loading dock of the sandblaster's ready to get blasted tomorrow.

It looks like you are making progress. I wish that I had a lift system like yours! I had to slide my cab across 2x4s onto saw horses. It sucked.

here we go...
.001 under rod and main bearings. Had journals polished to undersize. 0.030 in the hole with FI Hyper pistons. Going to have to wait and port heads after I move to my new shop in Fond du Lac next week. ![]() ![]() ![]() Before ![]() ![]() ![]() After ![]() Suggestion to those who may consider at home sand blasting with one of those colman units. Use "black beauty" coal slag instead of sand. It still goes everywhere but it doesn't make as much dust and it won't kill you to breath. only $9 for 100 Lbs. O, and make sure you have plenty of air. I had 2 3.5hp single stage compressors hooked up with a Y and it wasn't quite enough. I remove scale with a wire wheel and etched it with the blaster.

New shop almost all setup!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Prime web wheeling location. Glad I left that parking brake line mount there. ![]() And a video of the last run of the scout 2.1, cuttoff mufflers, going to get mail. boring video, don't expect much. ![]() I didn't know this camera has to be held really steady so some is blurry, but I need some tech advice on the front suspension setup. I have the basic idea of my link locations modeled with ratchet straps and braded line as you can see. My question #1 is, do the lower links need to be parallel instead of angleing out to go to the front axle? It seems to me like they should, and it wouldn't be that hard to do. Q #2 is in regard to the upper link, does it need to be mounted above the pumpkin side for any particular reason other than track bar clearence? could I just build a bracket coming off the right side of the axle? Q #3 is how are you 2nd gen HPD60 linked guys attaching your left side lower link? Right now it seems to me that I want to trim back some of the spring pearch casting so I can get some steel welded in there to make a link bracket . I think I could do this and get a decent link bracket, but if I am going to have to have my upper link mounted to the diff side, I will need to be attaching a very strong truss to a very small spot. see Q #2 Keep in mind that this is a RHD so the track bar will be mounting to the right side of the frame and the left side of the axle.

when you pulled off your body you probably should have braced it so when you put it back on (if you are or not) it would have stayed in somewhat of the same position...

There were only traces of rubber left from the body mounts, I don't think it would have made much difference. I don't plan on reusing the top so if its a little bent its not a big deal.

Finnaly located a rear dually. Ended up being a D70HD 35 spline from a 77 4wd chevy RV. It has 4.10's but the ring gear has .035" of backlash. For 100 bucks I can't complain.
![]() ![]() ![]() heavy pig. Will be getting disks.

I'm in Greenville, about 45 minutes north of Fond du Lac. Stop by some time. I've got plenty of Scout parts and land to wheel on. Our club is having Mud Drags tomorrow (Sat on HWY 49 just north of Berlin) Nathan nkuss682@earthlink.net 1-920-379-5147 cell

That's what the drums on my dually 14b rear looked like... the "deep dish" drums (3" wide shoes if I remember right) instead of the "pancake" drums (2.5" shoes ???) found on a lot of the standard width 14b's.

I missed the mud drags. Got up late, got a hair cut, and spend the rest of the day working on the scout. O well, at least I made a little progress, very little. Got the axle shafts out of the 70 but it took everything the snap-on impact of the next door "samuri shop" had at 140psi
![]() Cut off the perches and shock mounts, pulled off all the old brake stuff. Gonna check on new rotor prices at carquest tomorrow. Also started porting the 466 heads. I also got one of those bosch rotozip tools for porting and also cutting some remaining frame brackets off (did that today too). Those things are really handy. I would recommend as a last minuet fathers day gift. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pretty unglamorous day. Dirty work and shop cleanup after the walls got redone.

I'm planning on fordies at least and going up as budget allows, 42's would be awesome but its such a huge jump in price idk.
I mainly just want to have good tires, no hawgs or anything. I have some low tread 38.5 SX's right now for the initial tire setup but I have my eyes on those alleged 42" Sx's comeing out, but we'll see. I'm prolly gonna keep my H1's on some spare rims for long distance and DD tires as well.

2 D3VE's, minus 3 lbs of metal shavings, plus rumbledy bump stick equals WAABAHHH!!!!
![]() Got the 70 cleaned up. I'm debating what to do about my .050 or so backlash problem. Not sure whether to just run it or just shim the carrier over. I want to wait on a full kit till I figure out what my budget says I will be doing for a rear locker. ![]() ![]() can anyone guess what the new name of this scout is gonna be?
