RIP Tahoe

As some of you know from previous threads, my husky had cancer. Yesterday I made the hardest decision of my life, to put her to sleep. My vet came to my house and did it, I wanted Tahoe to pass where she was comfortable, at home, in daddy's arms. I balled like a baby and still tear up just thinking about her. It's very strange to go home and her not be there. You were the best dog I could have ever asked for. I will love you forever my little fury angel. RIP Tahoe, you will never experience pain again

Almost 2 years ago I took my Jackson hound to the vet to put him to sleep.
All in the waiting room could see the pain in my face, I couldn't look up.
I could just stare down looking at my favorite hound, his body poor and weak.
I was holding him when he died.
Tears streamed down my face and I couldn't talk for a while to even ask for a box to take him home.
I buried him out on the ridge at one of our favorite running spots.
I don't think I ever stopped digging until I was done.
When I put the first shovel full of dirt on his body, I cried and the tears never stopped until after I was done. I put a big rock on top of the grave and carved a "J" into with a matic.
I sat on that rock and cried for a long time before I went home.

It's crazy that we get so attached to dogs, but I guess there is no love truer than a dog's love for his master.

Yes it is. I am having her cremated. I was also very happy my vet came to my house to do it, I didn't have to walk out into a waiting room full of people while I was crying and then drive home

I know how fucking hard that is to do and how it rips your heart out but you did the right thing. She is happy now and no longer in pain.
