Silver carp, they are a huge nuisance and endangering other fish by overpopulation. They jump because the vibration from the motor freaks them out. They have comps, batting the fish and the winner with the most batted fish in the boat at the end of the time bracket wins the purse.

damn... Sounds like they are a hell of a problem over there... I didnt think about it till i read that article, but a boat travelling at 20-30 mph, and a 40 lb fish come flyin out of the water and hits you in the head, fuck yea that could kill a person...

(Assuming you could legally discharge the firearm) F&G would not have an issue. Most of those badges would buy you a beer as a matter of fact. I've talked with some DFG guys here when we had a similar problem. You should hear how they talk when they're not on the clock. A lot of them are real people.

The issues would come from the bleeding heart drama freaks and the PETA terrorists. Know your enemy.

The guy needs a helmet. I got hit in the ribs by a 30 pounder while running the boat jugging for catfish and I seriously thought it broke ribs

While jugging or running a boat at night you learn to listen for the sound of them breaking the surface of the water so you can duck and cover. You never know where they are coming from

It is just a matter of time before someone gets killed by one while running a boat.

hell yes.. i dont think it would even take hours... 30 min tops, once you got into a huge school of them like in the vid.

dont think a .22 would be a good idea though, i see buildings in the background... plus with the shotgun, you have the chance of getting a few with each shot. godamn that would be fun

Carp suck. We used to shoot the hell out of them in our creek ponds because they would fuck up the water and run off the pike. When the county dept came by to dynamite beaver dams every fall, they would always do a little extra for us.

Trinity River just north of Huntsville for the big gar and Gibbons Creek Res. by College Station for Tilapia. It's pretty fun having a 150lb fish drag an 18' foot boat around like a trolling motor. The fan boat is pretty fun too, it's like wheeling on the water

Any time this summer, when the water heats up to about 90* these big gar have to come up for air so there's a lot of action normally.
