Cool Places to Hangout in Downtown Nashville

I have the dreaded Vanderbilt Banking School coming up next week. So I am looking for places to blow off steam, that arent the typical hey look at me I am a tourist. My Day starts at 7 and ends at 7PM from one teacher to the next.. so by the Wed I am done...

I use to go to Tootsie's just for the music, but last time I went to Nashville, I just went to Mellow Mushroom and drank a few...

Give me your thoughts?

What's so dreadful about the Vanderbuilt Banking School? Is it really like all about organ banks that they stock with the cadavers of transients and coeds and bankers who live in a helf-alive state of suspended animation while organs are plucked out of their body, one by one, to feed the rapacious needs of the domineering extraterrestrial mastermind Juiblex V'kronk?

I've always liked South Street for the good food and atmosphere. http://pansouth.net/southstreet-index.htm

The Tin Roof on Demonbreun has a good reputation as a college bar.

I'd take you to lunch since you'll be across the street - but you sound too busy

I try to stay out of Nashville in my free time - so no suggestions from me on where to go

Is this related to the suicide thread? Is it somehow cooler to hang yourself in Nashville?

Could be very romantic to swing under the lights... I guess?

If you hang yourself in Nashville, maybe some aspiring country artist might see or hear of your corpse and write a heartfelt piano-laden sapfest that some ex-girlfriend that you never got over hear and she'll like totally start bawling n' shit and that would be cool.

Go to Jacks BBQ. I have been to the one off Trinity Lane right off I65. Their pulled pork is about the best I have had, and they have all the good sides too. Dont fret if you are the only white dude in there, you will still get served.

Rick.

DRM thanks for the offer, but Ya, we get a 45 min break for lunch, and we go to the Vandy Cafe, then back to class...

Well as usual PBB thanks for the options, should it come to that on Friday before the exam...

I fixed the title, now back to the point

Dude, you're from Dayton and you're a banking student.

Walk into any restaurant or bar and you'll think it's "cool".

ThreadKiller, thats kinda funny...

I know you think Dayton, small town... Heck no way, He lived in New York, Atlanta, and some time in Miami...

But thanks once again, for making all think that everyone that lives in TN still runs electricity off a windmill, and we ride horses to church/school in the same building

I guess DRM, is the only cool person on PBB from TN

What is Vanderbilt Banking School?

I work at Vanderbilt. If you want to stay within walking distance, then you could try Hillsboro Village (Jackson's, Sam's sports bar, Sunset Grill, and there is another one that is sorta classy, but cant remember the name). Beside SouthStreet is the Boundary which is also a nice place, we went when wifey turned 21 (well, she wasnt wifey back then). If you want about a mile walk, head up to Demonbreun (Tin Roof, Dan McGuinness, On the Rocks)...there is also a really nice, big parking lot up there, so you can drive just as easily. If you want a couple miles, go park in the 3rd-Commerce parking garage and hit 1st/2nd Avenue and lower Broadway...take your pick of places.

Its is the TBA, joint with Vandy... Classes in Owen Graduate Bldg.

Thanks Road Head... I may just find a seat at the Ruth.

Brown's Diner on 21'st. Sure it looks like a place you might find a redneck cousin, but it used to be the best burger and cold beer in town. I haven't been there in years so who knows.

Anywhere on music row is cool. BB Kings is great w/ good food and music. One of my favorite places downtown. There are a few chain places as well, but the one-offs are the best. There's an Irish place West of 40 just outside of downtown (church street???) that is cool as well..
