The term "Old School" no longer valid. "Old-Timey" is better

Ok is anybody else tired of teens and 20
somethings using the term "old school"
for something that is only a few years
old. When I was a kid somebody said
"He is from the Old School", it really meant
something. Now that term is so diluted that
it carries no weight and should be banned.
I hereby proclaim "Old School" dead and
long live "Old-Timey". Bring back handlebar
mustaches and barbershop quartets. Men will
wear red and white striped coats and ride on
bicycles with huge front wheels. Women will
get back in the kitchen or work in brothels.
OLD-TIMEY!

I prefer old fashioned. Old timey is a bit too mouth breather-ish.

Your mom fell down the stairs a lot when she was pregnant with you, didn't she? It's a shame...

that she didn't fall correctly and end you.

I agree, I hate that term even more than 'get r done' and almost as much as 'back in the day'.

Back in the day we used to 'get r done' in an old school type of way.

Any jackass that still uses eleventy and the whole "X2, X3" bullshit has no right to bitch about any other jackass who uses "old school".

Old-Fashioned: A Cocktail that nobody drinks anymore.
Back in the day & Old School: The result of the Hip-Hopification of America.
Retro: Makes me think of metrosexuals on European Scooters.
Back when I was a kid: Makes young people roll their eyes at you.
Seasoned: What you do to meat and earns you no street cred.
Get r done: Must be a hick thing, I don't know anybody who says that.
Old-Timey: A term older than SanDiegoCJ and much cooler.

I have seen many things (and I'm sure Monsignor Mustardo has too) that actually ARE "Old School". For instance, cutting dovetails by hand, instead of using a power tool. In many professions, there is a body of knowledge that is rapidly disappearing, because it has been pushed out of current practice by technological advances. But that body of knowledge is still there, and it's still valid, and important. It's the foundation that the current technology was built on, even if we don't remember it. So, yeah, I know some genuine Old School stuff. Stuff that was "current technology" in 1492, when this side of the dirtball we call Earth was "discovered" by a bunch of Southern European adrenaline junkies.

You illustrate my point perfectly, "Old School" used in the right context would actually mean something like the examples you cite. However, in this day and age it is rarely used correctly, especially by the younger generation. Example of using the term incorrectly: "I just watched that old school CSI episode or I just heard that old school Eminem CD". Obviously both of those things are not old enough to merit the "Old School" tag. That's why I propose "Old-Timey" as a replacement for things that are actually "Old School" since that term doesn't carry any weight anymore and is very overused.

While you appear to have an adequate command of the daily usage of the English Language, and seem to handle grammar with proficiency, I cannot ascertain your qualifications for inventing new rules of English usage.

Suggestion denied, for lack of supporting documentation of the requestors qualifications.

Next?
