Before and after (almost done)
After working for the last 19 days without a day off, I finely had some time to work on my Sami. I've just about got her done, all I need ot do is finish up the shock mounts, rock sliders and stinger. I also have some trimming to do and I'll finish up the fenders last. I opened the wheelbase to 85"

That's a clean looking Zuk. I need to find one of those for scouting and light duty wheeling

Thanks everyone, This is my first build. I wanted something for playing in the sand and light duty wheeling, that would also fit in my toyhauler. So for $2800 I pickup a low mileage 1990 EFI Sami. After spending a lot time here and a few other sites I got an idea of what upgrades I wanted to do. I know longer is better so, I went with a shackle reversal and lengthened the frame 8 inches.
![]() ![]() I know there's going to be some rubbing, so one of the last things i'll be doing is trimming the fender wells. |

How did you handle the need for a longer front drive shaft, .. and can you post some more detailed pic of the front S/R hangers and front shackles?.. I just finished my rear YJs and I picked up a very slight vibe when pulling through 2nd gear hard on the gas, so I probably need to shave all the rear gunk off the rear axle and put some new perches on pointing the rear pinon up a touch to get the angle correct. Its it about an inch lower (pinon) than it was stock SPOA....
Great looking first try!!! I surely couldn't hope to finish my first try that clean,... my "first try" rear YJs has had me disassemble reassemle 3 times now? so it that my third try??? Last edited by mesquito_creek; 08-03-2007 at 09:42 PM. |

Looks nice.. I see you are in the local area.. Lets take it wheeling. We have a couple of stockish Samurai's going out to Calico this Saturday for a little exploring of the larger area there. Check the socal section for more details, or drop me a PM.
