I have a '78 SWB Step Side K-10 with dual tanks.
In the process of doing a frame off resto-mod. Both original tanks leaked so a new tank(s) is in order. What I want to do is toss both saddle tanks and install one center located tank in the rear. Was thinking about a K-5 tank with skid plate. A few rough measurements make me think the K-5 tank might not fit in the rear of a K-10 frame. Think the tank might interfere with the axle? Has anyone done this mod? Will it work? The truck has a 4" suspension lift. If Not...............any suggestions? Thanks,

I unbolted the factory mounts and welded them to the front wall on the inside of my bed and built a nice any to cover it along with a new filler neck it looks real nice and it is safer then being under the truck while you are wheeling just to throw out an idea

I thought about an in bed tank, but with a step side already having a limited
amount of space for hauling I decided against that. The truck will used more for farm ( working with Horses ) than serious off-roading. |
