1/2-18 Left Hand Tap Source

I'm looking for a LH 1/2-18 Tap to use a few times..any ideas on a good source?? My local tool dealer can get me one for 30$..I'm thinking I can find it cheaper than that. Thanks

shane there is an aircraft tool supply / machine shop supply house that has a lot and I meen a lot of used dies, drill bits, mill and lathe parts and that kind of thing...

From 75 take beltline to the east, go past the Richardson police department on the left (you been there???) continue east for another 500 to 600 yard cause you will be in a older residential area. On your left in the first little strip mall it is on the very end... They will have what you want. It may be used but they sharpen everything they sell and it is good stuff... I think you would be able to pick one up for 10 or 15 bucks... SOrry I dont remember the name. You could call my old shopforeman (Mark) at Huffines and he could tell you thier name and give them a call to make sure they have it but the visit in that place is worth the drive... I never get out of there under 50 bucks...

Yourwelcome, JOSH

When I bought my 3/4 LH tap I went to a local tooling place. The guy was into Jeeps, so he gave it to me at cost. $24

Since UNC for 1/2" is 13 and UNF for 1/2" is 20 what are you using that will require a LH 1/2" x 18?

Fellas! Bastard thread pitches abound. A very popular pitch for 1/2" is 12 TPI for machine tool builders. Think about the lead of a 12 pitch screw!

I used that brand of tap to make a small run of tie-rods for some jeeps in our club. Worked fine for limited use but I can definitely tell the difference b/w those and the taps we have at the shop that were designed for 500k cycles.
