Team Jimmy's 4x4- Cottin Rodd

Cottin Rodd was born in the small town of Cortez. Located in the Southwest corner of Colorado where they say, "People talk about getting out of the city to a place where life is more laid back and the world isn’t always in a hurry, they’re talking about Cortez." Fortunately for us, and Cottin's growing fan base, she never took to that motto. She got the taste of speed and adrenaline at a young age pushing the limits on her family's three wheeler. Her favorite place to test her father's nerves was at the sand dunes. The flow of oil in her veins and speed on the brain had been embedded in Cottin forever.

Later she got involved in BMX riding and skateboarding. Never quite good enough to take it to the next level, but that never stopped her from thrashing with local friends around the quiet city of Cortez. Hanging with the skater crowd, Cottin met who was to become her best friend and number one supporter.

Cottin first got invlolved in wheeling as a teenager, although not quite at the level she is at now. Her first vehicle was a '79 Ford Bronco on 35's. Like so many of us, she started wheeling as a means to get to her favorite camping areas. Never knowing what her wheeling world would become.

After meeting her husband, Randy Rodd, who also serves as her mechanic, #1 supporter, best friend, crew chief, person to hit when things don't go right, fuse carrier and on and on, she raced in her first competition.

Cottin has been competing since 2004. She started at the Avalanche Ranch Rock Race Championship. She has competed in the XRRA since its conception. She has even found the time to hit some Eastern Series events, where she got her best finish to date at Grey Rock placing fourth. Sitting fourteenth for the Western Series, Cottin has secured a place at the XRRA Finals in Colorado Springs. She will also be competing in the upcoming RockCross series, where she hopes to make her name known as a talented driver, wrencher, welder, and grinder.

Cottin is on her way up, looking to get bigger sponsors to help support the costs of such an expensive sport. There is no doubt she is on the A-list as far as drivers to watch. She also has class. Between heats, if Cottin and Randy aren't wrenching on their car, they can be found with the fans signing autographs and talking to the next up and coming racers. Cottin and Randy are two of the most easy going people you will ever meet. Having just met them, I feel like I have known them for years. If you see them at the races, go up and say, "Hi". You will not find a better brand of people.

actually cottin was born down in mcelmo canyon in the old blue door schoolhouse (built in 1897) during a blizzard. we had no phone, no car and no $$$ but it was an awesome home>>>she started peeing in all my flower pots and running away when she was 2 yrs., stole my car from age 9 on---yes we finally got a car... total tomboy always and did many stupid tricks just for a laugh. met randy in grade school (he was older) so i was always hearing about the too cool randy rodd from her and her sister. i remember randy showing up at our house once with his rad purple hair(yeh). she managed to wreck every car she had, let alone a few of her friends!!! ran away from home again at about 16 and became a dentist but she had to quit because she was diagnosed as legally blind so she married randy (who is the only person she minds---sometimes)

and started racing and raising 3 boys who all act just like she did when she was their age...so now you know the story---and the reason jocko will only take pics of cottin when shes leaning against a wall or driving around in a cow pasture....
