Calling on the PBB powers.....
Hi Everyone,
I know I haven't been around much latley but I need a big favor. Heres the situation. A little over a year ago, I bought an Astar tv (30" LCD). It was great, it had the best picture quality of any cheap LCD I've seen. Well, just before the year warranty is up i turned it on and smoke started pouring from it. i unplugged it and called their customer service. I had to fax them a proof of purchase, which I did. They tried to locate a repair center near me, there were none within 2 hours. They tried to convince a couple local places to become repair centers, none would. They said they'd call me with details after they found one or didnt. 2 weeks went by with no call. I called them. They said "oh, no one wants to become a repair center so you will have to ship it to us" ok fine, but it would have been nice to know a week ago. I ship the tv to them (they paid both ways). They also said the part that was needed was at least a month out. I asked if they would just exchange the tv with a refurb or new one, they agreed. 2 weeks later I get my tv back (2 weeks for ground travel and repair was acceptable). Problem being, it was my tv, not a new/refurb. I plug the tv in....it works. A week and half later....smoke. So on the phone I go. I get some customer service rep in training, can hardly read the scripts or speak english. Not the "im just learning english because im in India" type but the I didnt graduate grade school type. Anyway, I tell him whats going on and he tried putting me through the same deal that I went through not long ago. I asked if I could speak with my original rep. Sure. I tell him the situation. He says send it right back, we'll take care of it. Also said there would be a shipping label in my email within 5 min (there was last time). 3 days go by, no label no call. I called them back up and asked for Mark (the guy i had dealt with). Mark informs me that i need to fax a proof of purchase before they will send a label (nice of you to call and tell me this, Mark). I explain that the tv had been in less than a month before and this should not be nessisary. (I work in computer repair, its industry standard that if a repair comes back within 30 days, its fixed NO questions). He agrees but his boss demands it. I ask to speak to his boss, he passes me on. I am now speaking with Michael Wallace, head of customer service (also the repair dept). I explain the situation to him, including the tv being back to me for less than 30 days. After a few rounds he finally agrees that I am right and it doesnt matter when the tv was purchased as it was just in for repair. He was using some excuse that the repair dept might not replace the tv without the proof of purchase. i had to remind him that he was their boss and if he told them to replace a tv, that they'd do it. 5 min later I had a return label. Packed the tv up and shipped it out. I was about 4 days doing this as I was a little busy at the time. Tracked the TV and it got there 5 days later, signed for by the same person as last time. I wait 2 weeks, nothing, no call. I wait another week for good measure, nothing. 2 weeks ago I start calling. No answer. I left a message with the general cust service voice mail. Nothing the next day. I call back. This time the voicemail is full. hrm....I call Michaels extension. no answer, i leave him a VM with my number and the rma number. I have not recieved a call back to this date. I've called every day 1 or 2 times a day, no answer no call back. the cust service vm box has been cleaned out as I was able to leave another VM there. I've even tried calling and leaveing messages at random extensions hoping for some response. Nothing. I've also sent e-mails, nothing there either. All of my messages have been polite and professional, the most recent ones have been more stern. Now its time to get nasty, therefore I am involving the PBB. So now I'm here asking for your help. i'm suplying the numbers and addresses, see if you guys cant get someone to pick up, If you do, be creative, just don't do anything illegal. All I want is my tv back, or at least someone from Astar to call me and give me a tracking number. Here is the info: :Address:: 5101 Commerce Drive, Baldwin Park, CA 91706 ::Main Ph:: (626) 851-2528 ::Main Fax:: (626) 851-2579 ::Tech Support:: (626) 851-2528 ::Website:: www.astarelectronics.com ::General Info:: info@astarelectronics.com ::Sales & Marketing:: sales@astarelectronics.com ::Service & Support:: support@astarelectronics.com ::Rebate Inquiry:: rebate@astarelectronics.com ::Employment:: HR@astarelectronics.com Michael's extension is 109. Call your local news station. They love stuff like this. Companies hate this kind of stuff. If it's out of state you can get the postmaster general involved for mail fraud. Leave that message next and I bet you'll get a response.

Oooh I forgot about mail fraud.....not only is it out of state, its across the country. I'm in VT, they are in Cali.
Now, since the shipper was DHL, is that still considered mail fraud? Travis |

Philips Corporation On July 27, 2007, Finnegan Henderson client U.S. Philips Corporation won a victory in a patent infringement action in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against the KXD and Astar group of defendants for the sale and importation of DVD players incorporating Philips’ patented technology. The Court found that it would have been “inappropriate to subject [Philips] or the Government to a costly trial where it appears from the record that Defendants have engaged in a pattern of delay obfuscation, and obstruction.” The order clears the way for Philips to seek entry of a judgment.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe it's because requests for PBB power were very rare and now it seems it's usually requested 2-3 times per week. |
