BJ75 in Asheville, NC

As evidence that attending two church services in one morning can reap some rewards, I saw an HJ75 camper here in Asheville today. Waiting on a light, it breezed through the intersection like a mirage in the desert. Weird, I saw it, thought to myself, "75 series, cool," then went back to Prairie Home Companion for a moment, and then it hit me: "Dude, a 75 series camper just went by!!" I chased it down at the next light and managed a little conversation with the owners, older couple from Switzerland. I mentioned that there was another 75 in the States from Switzerland, on the West coast now, some guy named Roland, and they looked at me like, does this guy think there are only 5 or 6 people in all of Switzerland. Anyway, I asked them if they were staying in town so I could run home and get my camera but they said they were just leaving (the lunatic in the Cruiser next to them behind probably). I did manage to get that the engine was a 3B before it putted off in a cloud of diesel smoke. Very cool though, never seen one in person before. It was desert tan, with a shell on the back similar to what Roland has, but more primitive. Looked like it had probably been a delivery vehicle of some sort, converted to living quarters. That's it, finally saw a 75 here in the States, honestly never thought I would.

Carry on.

Did they mention what they were doing in the states? Touring, living, passing through? I must say I'm jealous! a 75 series, I've seen many BJ70's out west here but never a 75...

Well, he said 3B, so I guess it was a BJ70 (don't think a BJ75 exists).

BJ75 do exist, as well as 73 (MWB), and the 13BTs 71 (SWB), 74 (MWB).
And Roland is in a BJ45 IIRC ,

Bye,

Touring North and then South America, they said.

I drove around town for an hour yesterday armed with my camera, no luck. Oh well, wish I had some pics to share.

Re: Swiss on the West coast

Just a little note to your 75 thread. Roland's truck is a 78 (I believe) FJ 45 Troopy with a custom camper on the back. All homemade fibreglass and millwork. The inside looks as if it's from Ikea, but he built it all himself. I have a picture of him down at Pismo Beach, California two weeks ago. He stayed with some family of mine during one of his Canadian stops (Calgary, Ab.) I can send it to you if you like, it's pretty cool.

Especially when we see your face at the gas station. $1 per liter.
Got to take care of your mileage before you come, bro

Bye,
