Im looking into getting some extended radius arms for my 79 Bronc from broncograveyard...$750.
Whatever I do I need to get rid of these damn drop brackets... They catch everything, thinkng about making my own too.

Geez
Ok I don't really see why you guys couldn't do what I did. I spent $80 in Johnny joints, $30 for 7 degree C- bushings, and fabbed up my own mounts (4 plates with one hole each) Ok fine the arms aren't extended....$110 vs. $750?????

check page 1 for pics
botty fab huh? ok tell you what, i'll fab them up, paint them red, laser cut the brackets, put it a box with a fancy logo and a trick name and sell them for $750 to you so it won't be booty fab anymore. I'm sure even the best radius arm kit could be called booty fab by a NASA engineer. You guys and your "booty fab " comments!

First off not the best flex shot but it is raining and this is what I had on my disc.
Front I have extended- johney jointed arms and a WAH. WH 5.5" front springs and plenty of shock travel. Rear I have 3.5" 11 leaf nationals and a 7" long spring perch that is also built to give me 2" of lift to match the front and they piviot. The rear shocks are not long enough and this is the down fall of my rear set up. As far as spring settle I have never checked from when I put them in. It all works real well but their are some changes I am going to make. Ditch my curent front shock set up for the longer 16" I think 9012's and also run these in back once I build a new cage and incorperate then into it. Also with the WAH I want to find a front sway bar set up to minimize body roll. The biggest change the WAH made besides lots of flex is now I am dead even with flex front to back. Before I noticed the rear would flex out then push the front to limit now it works with each end.

Well the WAH is out of my budget right now. Maybe later.
Extending the arm with the JJoint would be pretty easy. I'm only running 35's and probably won't be able to get much more under there so I'm not going to stress. It's been sitting long enough already, needs to get back rolling. Thanks for the pic.

WAH= yes
Johney joint is like a hiem but they are rebuildable and in most cases larger and stronger

About the coils... I haven't heard anything bad about Cage Offroad's coils. I am on classicbroncos.com alot and people over there like them. I bought the 5.5" Cage kit and extended my radius arms. Bronco is still not back together yet so I can't tell you first hand how good this setup works. Try searching on the above site and you should get quite abit of info.

I built the suspension for both of the rigs in the picture..both have the same 14" extended arms shown in the next pic. The white EB has 5.5" Cage coils and the blue one has 5.5" BC coils. Both flex very well and work well on the trail but both still spend time on the street too. No WAH or wristed arms..just KISS extended arms..but the blue one took second place in the modified class on the ramp competition at Paragon last spring (but I do not remember the score..).

I was all in favor of anything but extended arms until a buddy built this thing. Sick flex and stupid easy design (cage arms).

Like previously mentioned before, I'd go with Johnny Joint ends. They are cheaper and strong, you'd have to buy a damn huge expensive heim for it.
Also, you don't want to extend radius arm/control arm setups too long. It actually works against you once you beyond a certain point if I'm not mistaken.

I bought the Cage arms. It is a lot cheaper to build your own, but the thing most people forget is that when you lengthen your stock ams, you need to put a bend in them where the stock arm would have ended to keep your tire clearance. The Cage arms have that built in. You can see the bend as the boxed portion changes to the round tube. And yes these things are beefy.

I bought used JBG arms for $125. I didn't like how low the frame mounts hung so I made my own. The lower coil mounts also made the spring bow really bad (6in Deaver/Superflex) so I made those too. Ramped a 939 when I got it done. The rear suspension is was limits it ramp-wise. I really like how everything performs on the trail. After getting everything dialed in it works great, is reliable, and drives ok on the road (but sees very little pavement)

Here's my rig with my old D44 with WAH, 5.5" BC coils and stock radius arms. I wish I could still run a WAH but they don't make one for a D60 and I don't have the skills to machine one myself, so I'm going to long arms with the 60 swap.
![]() There are lots of reasons to choose any of these options and most of those have been covered well here so far. There's no magic bullet, you just need to study your own needs and capabilities, what you want from your rig and make the choice thats best for your particular situation. Any of the three methods (WAH, Long arms or a hinged arm) will probably yield more flex than you can effectively use on the trail, so choosing one will come down to the more subtle differences. This is what the WAH looks like installed (the thicker ring in the long side axle tube): ![]() Dusty

Made my own. 2" .40 wall tube and 1/4" plate with stock C's cut off at ends. Using heims.
![]() I mounted them to the axle today and should have them in place this week. I gotta go buy some steel to fab up a new tranny crossmember/RA mount. I gotta move the jack stands so I can get them in place. Yes the are heavy but should never bend.
