Air Compressors...

My air compressor moved out awhile back so I have to go buy one (sucks not being able to power my bender). I want to get a oil compressor because they are so much quieter. I have looked at the husky ones at Home Deport and they look to be pretty good quality. I've also seen the Coleman and IR one's at Northern Tool but I'm trying to stay around the $500 mark.


What kind of CFM do I need?... mostly I'm running a bender, impact, air ratchet, and a DA Sander. The highest usage of those is probably the DA and it takes like 4 CFM at 90psi which isn't too bad.


Are the Husky compressors any good?

I bought a Superior from the Air Tool Store in Sacto for about the same price of a lesser quality Home Depot model, etc. They are on Auburn Blvd. and they can answer all of your q's before purchase. Also, they can turn any of them on right in the showroom to prove how loud (or quiet) they are.

If you can't find them, I can go out to the shop and get their number.

Rich, we know EXACTLY where that store is. Recall? We were just never brave enough to go in there for fear of what it might do to the wallet.

Damn, and they aren't that far from GoodTimes either.......and of course you CAN'T go to GoodTimes without going to WeinerWorks!!!!!

We are using one of the big Husky's in a commericial application. It was purchased temporarily to buy us some time before we bought the permanent compressor. We have run it almost constantly for 12-16 hrs a day with no problems. Based on that, I would say they are well built, tough compressor. If the Husky is near your desired price point, I would definitely get one.

I have a 60 gallon one. Works for me. However I am not someone who uses mine all the time. I just don't have a ton of hours on it. But what I have used it for, it's been fine.

I got the same one, 80 gallon
15.33 acfm @ 100 PSI
13.75 acfm @ 175 PSI

It still runs a lot..

It was my 3rd stage of upgrading compressors and basically you can't buy too much of a compressor is what I have come to realize so spend what ya can..

Like ANY real equipment (welder etc) I HIGHLY recommend getting it from a knowledgeable shop, save Home Depot for the cheap stuff and the home improvement stuff..

I owuld also look on ebay for industrail compressors two stage running off of 220 I got one for 380 bucks and spent 100 bucks on gas picking it up. Usually shops upgrade every couple of years if they grow in size or go out of business. Also they are easy to work on because they are just an electric motor belt and air chambers. I bought mine from a machine shop going out of business and it is way more than I need and it's great. Weighs a ton but it's awesome. Best of luck.
