Bender Talk

How well do the Hydro systems on the Model 3/4 hold up? I'm looking into getting a used Model 4 air/hydro, it has seen some definite use for about the past 2 years, and A LOT of bent tube. I just don't want to end up with something that will give me troubles shortly after I buy it. Do they have a tendency to leak at the cylinder or the the pumps wear out or anything like that? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
Greg

about 15 years ago i bought a jd model 3 for a friend of mine in exchange for a bunch of work he did on my race car. he has used it probally on a weekly basis building dozens and dozens of rigs. it has held up well and i think he has only replaced seals in the pump once. ( might of been a fitting, i just remember it leaking a few years ago )

that's comforting I guess benders don't really "wear out" other than seals and such like that. I'm ok with replacing seals if I have to, just don't want to spend mucho $ on repairs after the fact.

bignissan, I don't know if you have bought that bender yet, but most of the time JD2 outfits their benders with Enerpac stuff. They have great warranties on the main components, and are easy to get parts usually. Sometimes they used SPX Power Team Cylinders which are american made and very reliable too!

thanks! I'm not sure what the deal with the bender is now...so I'm just going to keep cranking away at my model 3 until something comes along or I feel like spending $2k on a new model 4 with dies. Thanks Alan! Trick-Tools has been great thus far!
