Electric shift 1356 t-case?

I know the electric shift motors on these like to go out, but realistically, how much of a problem is this? I've got a choice between a 1345 or an elctric 1356 for my 4wd truck, and am not sure which one to use. I'd like the strength and deeper reduction of the 1356 (not much differnce, but it's still stronger) and the electric shift would be nice as well. But, I don't want to have to worry about it going out every other week. This truck is going to be mainly a on road tow rig, but will see some off road use, and I expect to need 4wd reasonably often. So, what's the opinion of the pbb?

I'd go with the 1345, the electric shift system sucks, always has been, and they still don't seem to have the bugs out of it.
The 45 and '56 are pretty near equal in stregnth. I have hammered the crap out of my truck, and I only have a '56 in it because the chain in the '45 had alot of slack in it and my buddy gave me a freshly re-built '56 out of a truck he was parting out.

never had an issue with my 1356 John. 140K with lots of wheeling. Not sure how the case is that I would be giving you though, since I have never run it.

How do they usally fail? I know the 1356 is a pretty good case, with the expetion of the problem of the oil pump spinning, but I have heard bad things about the electric shift mechanism failing. How exactly does it usually fail? Burnt out motors, bad contacts or what? I like the idea of using the electric shift to simplify the levers, and also if I use it in a 2wd conversion it saves cutting a hole in my floor. But, I don't want to have the thing break every other use.
