ultimate shorty c4/klunev

I needed more gear, and more space. after muhco research the plan was to swap out the existing c6/205 for a c4/klune-v/205 utilizing the AA #50-2903 (c4 to atlas, short version). This adapter removes the entire tailhousing and governer of the c4 rquiring the use of a full manual valvebody. this kit shortens the c4 approx. 14".

the problem: as far as klune-v reps could tell me noone had done this before, and didnt know if it would work or not. after much help from both the klune v and AA reps/vendors. i think i had it covered that this was in-fact, doable.

fast forward 1 week.

parts in hand.

lets slap this baby together.

problem: the klune input seal retainer was creating an interference with the adapter.

seal retainer before modification:

retainer modifications:
1.remove .150 from the interfering areas
2. countersink the 4 holes to accept a Flat head cap screw. (mod. not shown.)

ahhh.. much better.

overall length. 22.5" without bellhousing. (bell not included do to many different variations of c4 bell depths.)

after some measureing of my dads c6/klune/205 combo, the use of the AA adapter and c4 shortens the overall assembly approx 4"(depending on bell selection). While not alot, the smaller size and less power robbing of the c4 makes this (so far) look like a damn good combo.

Nate

What stall do you plan to run in your c4?

I have been thinking about a Klune between my c4 and atlas using that same adapter.

Do you have any pictures of the modification to the governor and new output shaft for that short adapter?

i dont. the governor housing just gets whacked down to .530" from its flange surface. and the output shaft.. well.. looks like a short output shaft. LOL

I'll be tearing this whole thing down in a few months to fully build the c4. I'll snap some pics then.

Shit you didn't even have it until 3 this afternoon you damn liar!!!

It really doesn't look like much of anything except a flange after all the material is taken off. If you have the right tools it doesn't take too long to do but it's messy.

looking at thier site, they now say it is compatible with the 31 spline fords. i'm gonna get ahold of them about it because if thats the case i want the 4:1 not the 2.7.
