Formula Offroad 2006
The Nordic Formula Offroad season started this weekend in sweden. I only have a few pics now but I will post some clips as well later this week!! Many drivers are now changing to air-shox and one driver from finland come with a new 1000hp chevy 540 and 4xbigger-digger tires!! This is no doubt my favourite comp. rig!! The frame is from a willys cj3 and the body is a copy made in alu. Axles are dana 60 with 35splines shafts and the suspension is King 14" coilovers with bump-stops.
There were many hard rollovers but some really amazing drivingskills as well. I will try to post some of the best rollovers (of course) but also "how to do it" drivings because I don't really think you ever seen something else but rollovers?! Pics of some cars: Chevy 540cid - 1000hp willys: ![]() ![]() ![]() Chevy 580cid - 960hp: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Eric Nilsson

Just curious about the red thing with the ttb front end. Any specs on the set up and how he gets it to hold together?

wow!
the first pic you posted of the jeep is really nice looking. i like the loop of steel around the gas pedal so the drivers foot doesn't slip off. ![]() what are the dimensions of the tires in the first pic?

I noticed each of those rigs are running different tires.. How do each of them compare and which one is better in that terrain ?

almost has a free way to build their cars, they are allowed to use the big bucket tires - Hooker, Super Scooper, Bigger Digger etc.In class Modified you must have a bodylook out of a serie-produced car and only allowed to use Sandtires or Paddla-Track tires. The rest is very similar to the Unlimited class.

The rig with the TTB is mine.
I have left some info on the setup on a different thread on this forum: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=475357 Just feel free to ask if you have any other questions about the setup. |

Thanks Thunderbolt. I used to run a ttb truck and realy like some aspects of it. If I were to run some high speed stuff again I would prob go back to it especially now that I see how to get around some of the week points of the set up

Thanks for the pictures and the link to that video! Awesome stuff...
Anyone have the link to the edited formula offroad video that starts out with a rear steer '30s era coupe doing donuts in the mud? It shows a beadlocked wheel turning with the footage faded over it for the first minute or so. It also has some slow motion & reverse shots of one of these guys launching off the top of a burm. My computer crashed and I lost the video. |
