2nd noob post tail end of 2F rebuild in my FJ55!!!!
My last post was back in May, on the same thread. I made ti back over without a hitch. Put over 10,000 miles on my FJ55, a couple of trips to Moab, before my thermostat stuck closed, and spun #5 rod bearing. I am in the final stages of th erebuild, just waiting on the last little part. I do not have any questions, except, what have others used to get "lift and articulation" out of their FJ55 wagon. I paid 700 dollars for the truck and can say right now with it sitting in the garage with open heart surgery, I have ALREADY gotten my money out of it and more. We will see you all out on the trails of Colorado and Utah!!

New to pirate
Hello all,
Names Graham, figured it was time to sign up on pirate. Got a '77 FJ40 33"s and SOA rebuilt 2F, running doors windscreen and hard top off of a '71, soon to add the '71 split hood also. Tub was built by a PO and all I have to say is carpenters who dont know metal work and think they do shouldnt be allowed near sheet metal...... (3/8" of bondo and fibre glass is just not the way to fix a poorly built tub.... and atleast make it the right hight...... ) anyways enough of that rant.Cheers Graham |

New here, but not to LC's
Hey folks,
I've been a FJ series LC owner/builder for about 20 years off and on. I recently decided to get out Scouts and get back to Cruisers. I currently own just one Cruiser, a 1962 FJ45SWB that I have had for about 18 years. It comes inside in a couple of weeks to begin a frame off rebuild and mild up grade. I am planning on replacing my 1980 Scout with an early FJ40. My Cruiser and I reside in Leadville CO, hence the monicer Leadvagas. Chris |

Hello,
My name is Robb and I am in Huntington Beach, Ca. I have a 69' Fj40 with a 383, Nv4500, Atlas, Diamond axles, ff rear, and a whole other bunch of goodies. I am currently researching getting rid of my previous suspension design ( revolver shackles frt&rear , anti wrap linked frt& rear, and converting to a full 3 or 4 link set up on both front and rear. I am looking for some 3-d data if anyone has any. I have several parts modeled in ProE including an Aqualu Aluminum tub, and my custom Rollcage. I am looking for accurate 3-d data for the frame so I can set the suspension up right. See ya

Newb....I think?
Pretty sad, but can't remember if I did the newb check in here or not. Have a '69 FJ40, mostly stock with a metal tech cage and a couple different sets of tires and wheels depending on the season.

Im in Windsor ON, Canada
Ive had my 78 FJ40 since 1995, rebuilt the 2F, ported the head, offy intake matched, 600 holley, 4 inch BDS leafs, 35" dunlop rovers and 38" boggers, monte carlo rear discs, scout power steering and a black and tan german camo paint job in flat rattle can till she gets a glossy sand color paint job after the body work. This rig spent alot of time in Costa Rica, the previous owner had it shipped back and forth in the 80's, there are a ton of stories to go along with that. I hit mostly mud, dirt, sand and street around here, planning on a frame up this spring if $ is there.....also deciding on swapping the 2F for a LT1 I have....still debating. I started my first thread on it......so far getting alot of great feedback from this forum....Thanks for having me, you guys are great! Cheers I8MUD ![]() ![]()

Hi, we are from outback Australia and were recently given an FJ28 Utility and my father thinks it's from 1958. We have it's history from new as it has only had two owners. If I had the foggiest idea how to put a picture on, I would. We would like to find out more about it and maybe restore it. Is this the place to be?

Greetings.
I'm an idiot. I have no idea what I'm doing. However, I learn very fast. I'm a Toyota loyalist of long standing, and on my 4th 4WD. I'm currently building up a Chevota out of a 69 FJ40. If image links work on a first post, this is the starting material: ![]() ...and where I'm at now:

I'm in Phoenix.
The core of the plan is: Chevy LS1 engine NV4500 tranny Atlas 4 speed tcase High Angle drivelines D70U rear axle with disk brakes ARB air lockers 4 link rear suspension D60 high pinion (kingpin) lefthand drop front axle 3 link/panhard front suspension 16" Fox coilovers hydro-assist steering 42" Iroks With a bit of sledge-hammering, I hope to cram that all into my FJ40 along with all it's supporting hardware. ![]() I'm photo-documenting everything I can. I'll start a build thread in the near future. |
