Mikronite Metal Treatment

Mikronite (www.mikronite.com) has recently purchased Crane Cams. Also a part of the new company is Liberty Gears. Mikronite is a revolutionary treatment process for metal, ceramics, plastics and many more materials that increases material durability and strength beyond many currently existing technologies. A video link to an interview from SEMA follows below; this is really cool stuff, especially for comp guys or ppl who are really hard on their junk...

looks very promising. But its also pretty darn expensive! $500 to do a ring and pinion. I think that is what they said at the end of the video $250 for the ring and $250 for the pinion.

Maybe this new company and metal treatment will help with the quality of Crane Cams. I had one of their cams flatten out a lobe and destroy a few lifters in my Jeep 4.0L block. I know of several others who have had the same thing go wrong with their motors and who where also running Crane cams.

That was my understanding as well. Due to wear conditions on used parts, they will only treat new parts i believe, so if you are building or upgrading keep that in mind. A friend of mine is looking at having oem 27 spl yota inners done and see how they hold up...

This is a pretty interesting process. I like the bling factor too. Hopefully it gets cheaper as it becomes more popular. I would like to see some real numbers on the power gains associated with just treating these gears alone. 14 horse seems like a lot of freed up power.
