Sorry to be a voice of reason here but damn let's all run 42's on the street and see how long it takes to.... laws against.... safety Don't let me pee on your parade, but let's be realistic and responsible with our sport.
the only pure bullshit here is yours.
the brakes on a 1 ton are designed to reliably haul down some serious loads, campers full of gear and pulling boats etc

I could easily boil the brakes on my fox

No kidding, what the hells up with all the "big tires/big trucks are baby killers" bullshit thats been getting dished out lately? Even my ridiculously ginormous excuse for a truck can stop on a dime, and thats with 44's. Shit is just as reliable and safe as it is built and designed. Power disk brakes on all four corners of one ton axles stop in a hurry, add hydroboost to the mix and the damn thing will brake better than more than half the cars on the road.

WERD. My junk with stock 1ton brakes and 39.5's stops better than it did with 1/2 tons and 30's

Did you ever figure out how they got around all the computer sensors to make everything work right......things like the ABS, VSS tone ring.....ect...I really need to find these things out for an upcoming build.
Thanks

Wow.....this is a nice build. I like it alot.

One thing though on the big tire being dangerous. I've driven numerous trucks on 44s on the street with 1 ton brakes and never had a problem. Thanks though.

I talked to Gaither yesterday and he said they had to get a Custom ECM or PCM burnt and hopefully that will solve the problems.

But what is the computer using to determine the speed?

I'd glady call you out to do a panic stop from 50mph compared to an 89 Stang. Your being a foo to not see a simple point I am making about stopping a fullsize on 40's or 42 on city streets.

Not to hijack the thread either it's a killer build. IMHO I'd run smaller tires on the street and have when my rig was my daily driver. I had two sets and saved the good big meats for the trails.

so when did a Fox mustang become the worlds benchmark for brakes?
odd that you would choose a vehicle known for having total crap brakes as the be all and end all of braking.

when do we meet up for this contest?

b-ronk, you have to understand that safety laws in Canada may be decently different. With the moose population thriving as of now, I doubt they are too concerned.

We made a custom ring for the vehicle speed sensor to read from. It was in the stock axle... now it is mounted to the rear output on the transfer case.

The truck is kinda on hold right now! Whoever bored the axle for the 35 spline shafts bored right through the side of the spindles and then decided that JB weld was the perfect fix, we did not realize this in time and one of the spindles ate itself during the test driving. The axle is out and having the spindles replaced now, we should have it back in middle of next week and start back trying to fool with this computer. The problem with the sensors we are having is due to the fact the truck has 4 speed sensors, 1 at each front wheel one in the tranny, and one at the rearend. We moved the rearend sensor to the output on the t-case like dan said, this works but we are having to fine tune our reluctor ring in order for the tranny speed sensor and this sensor to read the same. I have had no luck thus far on getting any one to burn a pcm like it needs to be for this truck. As for the braking I have done a lot of the test driving of this truck and it stops better now to me than it did with the IFS and 37" BFG's.

The axle will hopefully be here today, and then all thats left is the computer, so I will hopefully be going to Dothan with Lewis soon to get it.

Well...... We have finished the truck finally, lewis(the owner) is going to post some pictures when he gets home tonite. This turned out as one sweet ride, now we just have to get ready for him to do the next step of the build.
