Exclamation Knoxville OHV Clean-Up - May 4th, 2008

Hey guys,

With every trail in the US facing closure to our sport, we have yet another chance to stand up and take responsibility.

Deputy Mark Warrington of the Napa County Sheriff’s Department has released this years date for the annual Knoxville OHV Clean-Up.

The clean-up will be taking place May 4th, 2008. Deputy Warrington has asked all participants to arrive at The Hunter Creek Campground at 8:00 AM (Directions below).

Please bring any cleaning supplies you can. This would include as many large trash bags as possible, rakes, shovels, gloves, trailers, etc.

A kick-ass BBQ lunch is provided FREE OF CHARGE. So RSVP with Deputy Warrington at mwarrington@co.napa.ca.us. He will need to know how many people will be there so he knows how much BBQ to buy.

Knoxville OHV is one of the last public trail and shooting areas in Northern California.
At roughly 30,000 acres, Knoxville is home to an assortment of easy to medium trails, several types of wild game, camping, and rifle and pistol shooting ranges. Knoxville OHV is located about an hour Northeast of the City of Napa. It’s a beautiful drive that runs across Lake Berryessa.

DIRECTIONS:
FROM NAPA, TAKE HIGHWAY 121 (MONTICELLO ROAD) TO HIGHWAY 128 ( MOSKOWITE CORNERS) , TURNING LEFT ON TO CAPELL VALLEY ROAD. CONTINUE TO “TURTLE ROCK BAR” AND TURN RIGHT ON KNOXVILLE BERRYESSA ROAD TOWARDS SPANISH FLAT RESORT. CONTINUE ON KNOXVILLE BERRYESSA ROAD FOR ABOUT 25 MILES CROSSING ABOUT 8 LOW WATER CROSSINGS, TO MILE POST MARKER 32.00. TURN LEFT ON THE GRAVEL ROAD (DEVIL’S HEAD ROAD) AND MEET AT THE INFORMATION CENTER ABOUT 1/2 MILE UP THE ROAD.

Remember, if you’re interested in going, shoot Deputy Warrington an e-mail at mwarrington@co.napa.ca.us, or PM me for more details.

I'll be there and I'm rounding up the troops to hopefully have a great turn out. I've posted this on my local club forums, Marlin's site, IH8MUD, GreaseMonkey4x4, and Nor-Cal ATV. I'll also post it in a bulletin on MySpace.

Dont forget to email Deputy Warrington to RSVP. He needs you to so he knows how much BBQ to buy.

I'll see how many people I can get to go from my 4-h club, because we have a couple wheelers and I have a few friends I can bring.

Cool man. All are welcome.

Joblo knows where some of the good trails are at, and I know some of the decent. Perhaps because the Sheriff will be there they will open up that nice trail at the staging area.

Dont forget to RSVP with Deputy Warrington at mwarrington@co.napa.ca.us.

Is that shot up jet ski still there? There is ALOT of garbage up there. We are going to need a full size dumpster i think. Slap I drop you a PM. The upside is I've never seen cleaner looking bathrooms!

Yea, that Jet Ski was still inside that dirty pond.

That area along with the rifle and pistol range, Lower Hunter Creek, and the camp ground WAY out in the back of Knoxville towards berryessa will be my stops.

You know you can resize those pictures on photobucket really easily?

Edit: Thanks for sharing those though. When you were up there, did you see that huge mud pit about 1 mile past the bridge?

No real mud pits, only puddles from the rain the first day. The second day it was 100% clear and beautiful.

I plan on being there, will e-mail him today.

I know a lot of the trash is shooting related, would he mind firearms brought up for shooting after all is said and done?

Whats even sadder is the next person who is on the fence about picking up after themselves sees this and thinks "well it's already F'ed up might as well leave my trash here too..."

Sad. Hope this clean makes a big deference.
