I have never been to Tellico before, but it is on my list of places to go. I have many friends who spend lots of time enjoying the Tellico trail system, and I look forward to making the pilgrimage from Nevada to Tellico to spend my money there, and enjoy everything the area has to offer.

Undeniably, as seen by this rally, Tellico is a place loved by countless individuals across the nation who would suffer a great loss should Tellico be closed. These individuals use Tellico to remember their connection to nature, a true environmentalist. Each of these individuals are willing to shoulder the responsibility that comes with sharing the environment with all of the wildlife-including the lowering of the impact to the surrounding environment. Nobody here wants to be a problem for any of our wildlife.

Numerous individuals give hours upon hours upon hours of time in educating those around them about our environment and how to enjoy while maintaining it. And their work is spreading. Through the years I've seen a greater awareness of the impact made and we enthusiasts putting pressure on each other to be friendly with the environment. They've been doing a wonderful job, one which only a person who loves the environment can. However, their time has been split. They are now forced to spend a large part of that time simply protecting the trails from closure instead of teaching others to become environmentalists.

We need to search for answers other than completely blocking citizens from lands. There are other answers. We simply can't continue to block the environment from humans because humans are part of the environment. It is ignorant to think we can separate nature and humans. We can't. But we are an intelligent species who are capable of searching for answers to the environmental problems. And there are thousands, as demonstrated here, who are willing to search for those answers and to protect and maintain the environment for our enjoyment and for wildlife to prosper.

We enthusiasts love the outdoors. We love the fresh clean air, the plant and animal life, the trickle of a creek just as much as any other being. Please don't take that away from us. Instead, lets figure out a way to co-exist, to save Tellico now AND to save it in the future. Answers to this problem would provide answers to a great many other problems between wildlife and humans. Co-existing together, without us injuring the environment and without barriers to our beloved mother nature, is where the permanent solution remains. To erect barriers is simply a bandaid fix which is never permanent.
I've never been to Tellico, but I pray that I will be able to see with my own eyes, the place that so many love so dearly.

Looking through our pictures to find some of Tellico. Didn't realize that we had been several times. Here are some ...

Since meeting my husband with my Jeep and with his Jeep. We went to Tellico as our first wheeling trip as a married couple and "OUR" Jeep.

The guys from WNC Customs (who made the front bumper) helping us NOT get too much body damage. Talk about customer service!

Please keep Tellico open. It has been on my list of places to go for a long time. The stories and pictures from friends show the place to be amazing. I will be taking my family down next spring for the land cruiser run.

I have not yet been to the Upper Tellico OHV park, but after seeing everyones pictures and reading their stories, I would certainly love to go there someday. As a fisherman and off-road enthusiast, I would be able to take full advantage of what the park has to offer.

However, closing the park will prevent me from being able to enjoy all aspects of the area. Please reconsider the closure and keep the trails open for everyone to use.

Although never been to Tellico it is one of the places I would like to be able to attend in one of my future wheeling trips. There are too many places which are getting closed or have groups of people trying to get them closed from OHV users. Eventually if they all succeed in closing them down no one with a OHV will have any place to go legally to follow thier hobbie. This will not only hurt alot of people but hurt local business's due to the lack of hobbiest's following thier passion.

I would like to see this trail system remain open for the same reason as most who have not been there. Tellico is on my list of places I'd like to take my family for a vacation and get to wheel at. I am certain closing areas like this will simply create a situation where no one will be happy, and I'm very certain closing Tellico will impact that area in the most negative of ways to the locals and their economy. I know I would like to spend time there, and my money. If the gov't is supposed to do what is in and for the publics interest, why do they keep taking our rights to public lands/OHV areas away from the public? I am not at all pleased with our Gov'ts actions, you are taking our rights away with public land closures across the nation!

Rescue Tellico

The Southeastern Toyota Land Cruiser Association will be returning to Tellico for the 17th straight year hosting the Great Smokey Mountain Trail Ride next Week!

I've spent more time at Tellico working on trail maintenance in the last two years than I've spent wheeling!! Please keep the area open to all users!

Here's a pic from Slick Rock at last year's GSMTR

I certainly would love to go there with my future kids when I get back to California. I always take more trash from places I do sports in, be it windsurfing, skiing in the Alps (Not even my country and I care) or wheeling. btw.

I hope that by the time I get back and have kids, the general mindset of America towards nature has shifted, so there is no need to pick up ANY trash on all the OPEN trails.

We aren't destroying nature out there, there are just some fawking bad apples in each society giving us that look. 99% of us are actually nature/outdoor guys - else we would build concrete parks in the city.

And 99% don't litter, aren't loud and obnoxious, and make lotsa green love to sexy women in, well - far out there in nature. !!!

Keep the trail open please!

Please use all influence available to keep Upper Tellico open.

Areas such as this are unique as are the opportunities available to us--the RESPONSIBLE off-roaders.

Well said...I agree, but would add that where we are respected and welcomed we will go. I alone, and many of our wheeling friends/clubs, spend literally thousands of dollars/person in areas that support our passion for off-roading. My family I haven't had the opportunity to experience the wonder that Tellico is, but will if it remains accessible.
