Randy Built, Bomber Chassis for KOH

This thread is the build up of my buggy. It will be used for general hammers wheeling as well as racing in the King of the Hammers 2009.

Here is a short list of specs.

LS1
4L60E
Atlas 4spd
Spider 9 with HI 9 in the front
Spider 9 with Strange 35spline rear
42" Irocs on Walkers wheels

The rear suspension will have 20" of vertical travel. 12 1/2" of that is up from ride with 4" of air bump travel.
The front cycles 16 1/2". 8" of up with 4" bump
All that with a 18-19" belly.

Here is a little header tech. I make the collector die from four chunks of 1 3/4 solid bar. I welded them together and turned them down to a cone in my lathe. Then I used my press to form 3" tubing over the die.

heres a shot with both headers on. then we go to the steering. With such a bling steering ram you know the mounts have to be bad

my only question is how durable do you think the fabed arms will be

i know this style of arms and such are popular in desert racing

I think they will be fine. They are double sheer. I think the main reason we only see 1" thick arms is because they are single sheer and they cost less to make.

I think they will be fine as well, the only thing I would have done differently is to taper the tube sleeves through them and use tapered nuts. I don't know how accurate the cost less to make comment is though. They cost less based on what?
