R.I.P. Dennis Mayer - a true friend to everyone he met.

After a great weekend at the Rubicon Trail Foundation (RTF) Volunteer Leader and Land Stewardship class, our good friend and RTF Treasurer, Dennis Mayer, took a hard fall. Dennis hit his head while falling and after a short time it became evident it was more serious. In true Dennis fashion he downplayed any significance. The injury would have taken most anyone regardless of health.

Dennis passed Tuesday, November 18th at about 2AM. We will miss you dearly my friend.

Please keep your thoughts and prayers with Dennis and his family.

Aaron said it perfectly...friend, hero, and mentor.

I have work to do, and am trying stay focused, but I am truly despondent.

One of my favorites...Dennis at the repeater shack he made happen.

Anybody have a pic of Dennis that they can post for those folks that new him but cannot associate the face with the name?

I am horrible with names but I am great with faces. Can't place the name.

Best wishes to Dennis and family.

Del sent out a great picture with his note to FOTR... I'll add it up top.

He was a fixture on the trail these last few years in his yellow Jeep:

...and before that in his blue CJ5.

I was very honored to consider Dennis a friend and learn everything I did from him. He is an inspiration to us all. I can not put into words how honored I am to have spent those last few days with him and learn from him. He is and forever will be, as Aaron said, a hero.
