After watching them in the mud at Gray Rock I started calling Trepadors "Sticky Boggers"

The lateral traction (as seen with Will Carter and Bigelow above) is terrible. However, when you get them to hook up, they toss HUGE globs of mud and clean excellent.

I will keep rocking my BFGs. Clayton, that video certainly tells the tale of how you stayed within :18 of such a powerful vehicle as IndyWill's.

It would have been so much more impressive if you had finished in front of the rig running Maxxis Trepadors.

In all honesty, it was awesome to see you and Adam do so well for your first race of that type. Are you guys making any changes for the race next year?

:edit: Nolen, that is funny--that is exactly what I started calling my Treps..."Boggers with traction". I think the Treps are awesome tires, but you BFG guys have a point that the Krawlers have been solid performers for so long.

Be interesting to see what tire pressure Will was running. From that video they never flexed. I bet 20 psi or more.

Next year? I'm going to JV in February and then I'm getting a nice soft job at a check point next year.

That did work out very well for me. The trick is to let someone borrow your rig and then have them fix everything that breaks before getting it back.

BTW, to give some props to BFG tires, Mike took off my Treps for the race and ran his 37" Krawlers and apparently made my rig walk up spots, before the clutch blew..., that other rigs fought hard with.

I'm the second rig in that video and I wish I had never aired my Sticky Irok's up to 14psi for the race. the "high speed" sections weren't that high speed but the rockcrawling certainly was hard. My hats off to Clayton and BFG tires, I think that video speaks volumes.

air pressure for sure played a big role on the hard stuff.

But I also saw the same rig that spanked the hill climb on trail 5 one lap come back around and get denied. I think picking the right line played a huge deal...and on hill climb 5 the right line was a matter of inches.

I saw all brands of tires just get shut down and struggle.

Mud played a big role on the hard stuff. The right line is on the Right coast is always a matter of inches.

So Camo, where are the pics

You have failed miserably, we needed the Rock Midget there

I do miss my old BFG stickies. They were much stickier than anything else. Maybe someone can convince them to make a 47" sticky for me? Oh wait I forgot, they couldn't make that for less than $4500/tire ...

I want to know where there are big enough rocks in the SE where you need tires bigger than 39" tall?

Nolen, we discussed this some over the weekend after see big swampers getting owned by reds. I think why most people run big tires is because of their applicaiton was built for them. Length and height wise. Some folks are believers. Mike George in Dan's Old Evil Bastard is going down to 39" reds from 44's.

You don't have to convince me ... BFG stickies work way better than anything else out there when it comes to places where performance is a do or die scenario. Remember, I ran 37" stickies for a year and in comps and actually won with them. I run bigger tires now just because they're more fun and if I don't make it up an obstacle I don't feel threatened, like lesser of a man, or like I missed out on any prize money. That and I will never pay that much for a tire which I regularly tear the sidewall on again. At least when I ruin a swamper I've only got a couple hundred in each tire.
