Planning a Rubicon run for June 25 - 27

We are doing our final trip planning and are wondering if anyone can provide suggestions for parking our tow rigs on the Wentworth/Loon end of the trail. There will be 3 truck & trailer rigs for 2 nights. The most commonly referred spot, Robbs Valley Resort, appears to be closed. I'd also be interested to hear any suggestions for camp spots and interesting sights to visit. Thanks!

The spillway at Loon will put you right at the Loon entrance. Plenty of room for your trailers.

Thanks for the info. Are there any concerns about theft / vandalism?

There really hasn't been a problem in the past but you should still keep valuables out of sight.

One caution about that weekend, there's a large FOTR work party going on along the trail on the 27th. You might get held up for a minute or two but it shouldn't be too bad. Just be patient and chat with the volunteers while you wait

Thanks for the heads up Mark. We'll probably be past the areas they will be working on by the time they start...if I'm reading the map correctly. If not that's ok, I'd like to meet some of the FOTR crew and thank them. Maintaining trails, and more importantly, public perception of the off road community is important, and hard work. It's nice to communicate with people that understand the concept of personal responsibility.

the 12th or is it 13th annual Rubicon Scramble is that w/e. Start Thursday WWS and 1st night at Buck, then Friday thru monday in RS for R&R.

We'll be ahead of the work crews-- what can we do in advance other than the usual cleaning?

Can you tell me how many rigs will be in your group and about what time you will start on Thursday (6-25)?

we expect to arrive WWS Thursday 11am-noonish. Might hold up at Ellis for night if we have stragglers, otherwise may push to Buck, then we're in RS until Monday. We listen to CB 16 and also the Spider Lake 440 repeater.

I don't think we'll be at the trail head before 2pm so we will be a couple hours behind you, we'll give you a shout on the radio. Any pointers on good camping and fly lishing spots?

Good call, Bebe. Hey Randy can you post a map and GPS coordinates for rock dropping between now and then?
