Fishmouth fabworks closing

I have been around, but off the map so too speak. I can no longer run both sides of the business.I can't afford to pay someone to answer phones or run my books.I have to do one or the other.Fab or customer service.I cant handle it anymore. It is not a financial issue. It is a choice I had to make as to not stretch myself to thin.I am keeping all my equipment, but its going into storage for now.I was introduced to Eric and Jeff from MFS in lincoln a month or two ago. We have talked and I will be running their Fab side of things and working on special projects.I will still be in the industry, just not under Fishmouth Fabworks. However that name will always be mine.I am sad to see it go,but it is the right choice for now. They need a knowledgeable person in the shop.I think I fit the bill very well.I look forward to good things coming out of that shop. Thanks to all those who have helped and supported me through the years.

Thanks guys, Trouts out! for good

That sucks, most people start fabricating because they have a passion for creating things. If you have lost it because of having to try and run a business that hopefully this will bring the passion back.

Jeff and Eric at MFS are great guys.

Dan, You are a bad ass that is for sure. You are a very talented fabricator. One that is both very creative and VERY clean. Any shop out there would be lucky to have your skills. I understand trust me. Good luck and congrats

The good news is we can still get cool project build by you

Dan I see this as great opportunity for you..

running the business side of a fab shop sucks and now you don't have to do it.

You get to focus on making cool stuff

Plus MFS is closer to me then your shop. I am excited to have you working for Eric and Jeff and look forward to having you continue to building my junk.

Thanks guys, I have not lost my love for fabrication, which is why I am going to work over there. The business side of things takes me away from what I love doing.I have found you are either a good fab guy or a good business man. hard to find guys that have both.I hope that being able to "get back to work" will take some stress off of me.Fabrication has consumed my life since I was 14.That was 10 years ago.i am only 24, have worked for production shops, shaffers offroad ,started and ran my own shop, and now I am going to move on and work for another shop that I hope to be a great experiance.I like working in different shops in different areas learning things from everyone.I sure feel a lot older then I am.

Jeff and I are very excited for Dan to come on. He is an extremely talented fabricator and I am looking forward to turning him loose. We will have a lot of work to do this winter. With his talents, and ingenuity, we will be producing a high quality product that will, hopefully, make everyone happy. I can't wait to get going! This next year is shaping up to be very exciting for all of us.

You must have bent them over....I mean gotten a fair wage! I give it 2 years tops, then you will be itchin' to do your own thing again or if they are smart they make you a partner to keep you around.

Good luck fawker!

And congrats to MFS for getting an excellent fabricator, treat him like the farm animal he is.

Seems like right step, MFS has been picking up some nice equipment here lately and I think that you may be able to put your talent to use with some trick tooling. Good luck and congrats to both.

Those few days I spent up there helping Phil were great but made me realize more about what it's like to try and run both sides of the shop and stay happy. It really doesn't work trying to do both and I saw how miserable you were trying to juggle them. I think you have the talent to make a huge name for yourself whether it's on your own or working for someone. Having a boss isnt a bad thing. Paychecks are nice and going home at the end of the day and not worrying about business shit is nice too. Lets just hope you havent been self employed long enough and you can still seperate work and life. Anyways good luck with it and like I said you have hella talent and could probably walk into anywhere with the skill and craftsmanship you have
