Hawk Pride Mountain Offroad writeup and videos

Tached Out Offroad went to the newish Hawk Pride Mountain last weekend in NW Alabama and had a blast!

http://hawkpridemountainoffroad.com/

It is way better than Choocolooco Mtn or Morris Mtn. The hills are not as long as at GrayRock, but there trails are just as hard (or harder). There is plenty of riding for all weekend and the is a good size town near by with hotels, parts stores, liquor stores, and strip joints

You can access most all of the side trails with 31"s and could might even get a tow rig and trailer in the back if it came down to it.

It would be fun for 35"s and lockers all the way the built buggies. Just like everywhere else in the SouthEast, it would be hell in the rain.

The owners were very nice and let us use their welder and plasma cutter to build a new link mount.

Only $25 for the weekend too

We will be going back soon!

On to what you really want . . .

YouTube - Clay on ledge at Hawk Pride Mountain

YouTube - Little action at Hawk Pride Mountain

YouTube - Adam giving Da Smurf hell on bald Thornbirds at Hawk Pride Mountian

YouTube - Terry Lee at Hawk Pride Mountain

YouTube - Jonathan on Brokefoot at Hawk Pride

YouTube - Clay catching some air on Brookfoot at Hawk Pride Mountain

YouTube - some guy not giving it hell on Brokefoot

YouTube - Alicia driving the buggy at Hawk Pride Mountain

We went this past weekend and you are right. It sucks when it rains it was so sloppy 5 rated trails were impossible and even the 2s and 3s gave us hell. Great park I would say it is comparable to a little bit smaller Morris Mountain in terms of number of trails. I liked it and Ill be back.

Yeah this park was unbeleivable. Priced right, trails clearly marked, had plenty of room to watch, and actually had garbage cans on the trail in useful spots. We didn't get to ride all the trails but after i exploded my upper link mount in the crack of doom the staff was nice enough to actually repair my junk so I could get my weekend of riding in. The park has only been open for a few months but from there forum and talking to some people they are about to start blazing some trails real soon.

The 2 out of the 4 times Ive been to MM it was raining/ had just rained and absolutley sucked balls. One other time the tow rig broke down and I only got to ride 1 hill. The other time I was riding with someone else and we only got to ride one hill before his rig broke. They are the same distance from my house and Ive just gotten to do more hills in one trip to Hawk Mtn than in 4 to MM The hills are longer there, it will just have to be a drought before I go again.

I forgot about how nice the trails were marked and the trash cans. Both were very handy. They also gave out quailty maps to everybody when you paid.

The owners said something about letting local clubs come in one weekend and blaze trails and getting to name the trail after your club. I thought that was a good idea.

In that case the new 4' ledge at the top of 6? i think should be named Busted knuckle . X2 on the trash cans and half way decent trail markings and maps. Cant wait to go back when it is dry

Hawk Pride has a lot to offer for people in the area...it's 1.5 hrs. from me, so when I'm up and running again, I'll be back.

So the trips to MM when it rained did not affect other parks?

Not cool saying that Hawk Pride is any better than any other park. I am sure they wouldn't want you saying that either. I have been to almost every park around Alabama. And with that said they all have something to offer that the other one doesn't.... Morris Mountain has some awesome rock ledges along with that slick red mud... Good times... Mountain Side has some awesome rock slabs ....Got my first flip there....Good Times... Gray Rock nothing like letting the wife cruise through the canyon and then hitting tub rock and mine jb... Good Times.... Wheelin in the country... Need I say a great place with some fun ledges.... Hale Mtn. slick rock that allows you to throttle out....Stony Lonesome...Just getting started and hope they catch on to the rockcrawling but offer small tire guys a place to ride.....

I am sure you meant well but we need to support all the local parks.... Hawk Pride doesn't offer anything more than the other.... They all offer us a place to go enjoy our hobbies and if you caught on they all offer a " Good Time "...

Your joking right. Has pirate gotten so pollitcly correct that someone can't post there opinion? Maybe obama's socialistic ideas have trickled down this far and freedom of speech has just went out the fawkin window! This was the best ride our group has been on. The people were great, the park was nice and we had a blast. I don't know the last time you were at grayrock but I think theres 4 hills worth going up now? And whens the last time tony did something to change the hills. I can close my eyes and crawl bents and dents in a downpour (can post pics if needed). That was the most fun I've had on a wheeling trip and the park is VERY new just thought everyone should hear about it. You go take some video and post it yourself. You don't agree with us write that you don't and I wont try to make you look like a jackass because you can have your opinion thats what makes this country great!

It was fun, we went back in May. I think Peterson's is going to have a story on it later this year..

Has nothing to do with freedom of speech. But everything to do with our local parks. Why bash them on an open board? Some people just don't get it...

anything can be bought for the right price

the passenger- rear- upper link mount ripped off. It bent two heims, both shocks, and the yoke on the DS

Jonathan has already fixed it and is ready for Grayrock next weekend.
