I just wanted to share my recent experience with trying to replace the drums with discs on my tow rig a 1990 K30 crew cab dually. The key issue was being able to retain the stock dually wheels. So this is what I learned with help from you guys on the board, and Kert from DIY4X4. Initialy I was under the impression that mid '80s Chevy 3/4 ton front rotors were what I needed for the conversion but I had severe misalignment and needed rotors with a roughly 2" more added depth. Turns out that the rear rotors from a 2003 Chevy Express 3500 Van dually were almost perfect for what I needed. If I add 1/4 spacers between the hub and the rotor then my caliper would be perfectly centered on the rotor. Here are a few pictures. This has been done before im sure, but I had a bit of trouble finding the info easily on board so I thought this might help someone in the future that's trying to do the same thing. Thanks again to Kert, and NVRENUF for your help.
This is what I had with 3/4 ton rotors (I had the DIY4X4 brackets on backward at this point, trying to see if that would help or not.
Then with the van rotors, and the bracket turned around and properly mounted
