RZR XP Dual Batteries

Does anyone have an opinion on putting in a second battery in a 2012 RZR XP?
It looks like there is a bit of a factory provison for a tiedown in the second compartment under the seat.

Yeah..I've been thinking about it.

You definitely need a battery balancer...you want the main battery charged first, and the secondary....er second.

Otherwise...under heavy use...neither battery could get fully charged.

Here is my plan,
2 Dual Dry Cell,
4 ps Marine Battery switch. So off, 1 batt, 2 batt, or combined.

Ordered a second Polaris factory hold down.
That should do it.

Is all that electronics waterproof? I would like to have all those gizmos especially the intercoms and 2way radio but it would last about 2 rides where I ride. I envy west coast guys that only have to deal with dust and not clay snot mud that eats electronics

They are not waterproof but very tightly built.

ha. i live not far from Lake Tahoe....but i've worked the past 2 years in Charleston, SC. I try to explain to the people there....we get virtually no rain from usually May to Oct....we don't have puddles in the street or mud puddles off roading....we have hills....the water is going somewhere. Pouring rain in the afternoon during the summer...doesn't compute for us west coasters.

Kodiak Industries is currently developing a dual battery kit for the XP

Check it out, they are putting two Odyssey 925 batteries under the drivers seat. This is going to be a very high-end kit, using only the best US-made welding cable and crimped/soldered/heat shrink'd connections. The system will also include a waterproof battery management controller. Pretty cool.

The new dual battery kit from Kodiak Industries is coming along nicely.
Check it out.
  • Two Odyssey 925 batteries.
  • 2 gauge US-sourced ultra flexible whip welding cable
  • Crimped/ Soldered/ heat-shrinked connection terminals
  • Control switch
Options:
Fully waterproof digital 200 Amp automatic isolation switch (system brain)
or
Standard 200/600 Amp waterproof contacter solenoid

Comes with and additional Polaris OEM battery hold down to secure second battery.
I'm told that pricing will be available soon.
