car seat in utv

What is the law? We want to take our 2 year old with us but I can't find anything about the legality of it.

I have wondered the same thing. I see lots of kids in baby seats all strapped in but still don't know if it is legal. I asked the same question as it says on the RZR 4 that no one under 14 should ride in it. But I was told that was a Polaris thing not the law.
Anyone really know if it is legal?

We took our son this past weekend and had no issues. Just put the car seat in just like you would your car or truck. We had him wear his helmet as added protection

Research Chandlers Law.
It is being strictly enforced on federal/state ride areas in SC.

One member or our group was not allowed to ride his 4 wheeler due to being younger than an age limit sticker on the fender of his 4 wheeler.

HAve y'all read the new law that will be put into effect shortly for yall. From what I have read this morning, it looks like it will ban car seats, and also ban kids from riding in the utv's all together. It states that you cant have a passenger unless that passenger can sit with their back against the seat, flat footed on the floor, and grasp the han hold..

/forum/land-use-issues/1081207-california-helmet-law.html

and here also

Comifornia at its best..

You can thank the ROHVA for this one - http://www.rohva.org/

Helmets are required now too.

Hell my wife can't sit with her back on the seat and be flat footed.

I find it interesting that little kids can ride quads, but you now have to be 16 or be "closely supervised" by an adult to operate an SxS. I can understand the rule about being able to reach the controls, but other than that this new law makes no sense to me. The helmet law I can understand, but again, Helmets are not required for dirt bikes at Ocotillo Wells SVRA. Does that make any sense at all?? Just more Sacramento out-of-touchers making crap up that can't be enforced.

You can say 'STOP' or 'ALTO' or use any other word you think will work, but I've found that a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's head is pretty much the universal language.

Since when? Pretty sure they started requiring helmets the same time that the street helmet law passed in the late 80's.

I have asked the same question when I've seen people riding dirt bikes without a helmet, but if you look at the signs it says the helmets and flags are required for ATV's. Nothing about bikes or SxS's. I asked a Ranger about it and he just shook his head. Go figure.

We take our little girl in ours. F the law. it's my choice. She is in a booster seat and an little bike helmet.

At 10MPH I think she is a hell of a lot safer in that than going down the highway.
