First trip to Moab
Planning a few day trip to Moab, to camp and ride the RZR. I am not a competition rider, just want to enjoy some of the trails, scenery, and I don't want to break my shit. What advise, publications and spots should I pay attention to? Avoid?
Oh yea, wherever I go, needs to be dog friendly. Thanks |

The parks are strictly no dogs. If you are camping, I recommend site D 16 at Slick Rock. Has an incredible view and close to Fins & Things, Hells Revenge, and Baby Lions Back. If you go North of town, there are some sand dunes to play in and easy trails. Go to the visitor center. They sell a book that has every trail and info that covers the entire area. Worth the price. Have fun and stay safe.

Fins 'n things, isn't really worth doing.
Hells revenge is really easy, but you should do it anyway since it's a staple trail. I did the poison spider trifecta in my rzr this spring. I broke a cv and beat the shit out of my trailing arms. Guess you could take easier lines, but whatever. If you just did the poison spider loop you wouldn't hurt much. I like camping at kens lake. You can do steelbender trail from camp. There are a couple spots that would be pretty tricky in a rzr. Lastly, I would like to just say even if you dont' want to 'break my shit', make sure you go in with aftermarket skids. |

Rented a RZR up there last January and ran Fins N Things and Hell's Revenge. For the experienced Moab traveler it may be nothing but having no previous exposure they were definitely worth doing. Senic, technical enough to be interesting.

Not sure on when I'll go, I'm pretty open on dates.
Not worried about tearing up my RZR, just don't want to tear it up the first day,and be looking for parts and making repairs. I want to see the iconic trails and go progressively harder as the trip progresses Still getting good info, thanks Just saw the ad for the red rock rendezvous, looks like a good time to shoot for. Any advise on gear, either for the RZR or for camping? Last edited by TURK; 08-22-2012 at 09:22 AM. |

Also, Dorrica Brewer of Moab Powersports and Rentals is a good resource for the Moab area. Moab PowerSports number is (435) 259-7800. She's got parts for your RZR and also does guiding.
But going on the Red Rockin Rendevous is probably your best bet for fun in a more informal setting...
