Thunder in the Mountains Rescue Tellico Party

Now lets raise some money. I would like to host a bike event. Think of it as any other event that you plan to go to just because it is fun. The cost of the event will not be crazy. I know that most of you guys have bikes. The rally will be open to all registered bikes (Street, Adventure and Dual Sport). You will get to enjoy some of the best two wheel riding this region has to offer. I also have a 120 mle dual sport route laid out that covers scenic non paved roads, single track and water crossings. You will get to drink beer with your buddies. You will see some excitement in the Campground(I'll think of something) and all the while you will be helping a great cause. This is a perfect way to get another group to participate with ours. I know that even if you don't have a bike, you probably know someone that does. Tell them and tell them to tell their friends. Some of you guys can bring out the buggies and we can put on a comp on the rock pile to show those that don't wheel, just how much fun it is and that you are a cool fun loving crowd not really so different from them.
-Please post up if you interested.
-Ideas for Rally(Food and entertainment)
-Dates that don't conflict.
-What a reasonable fee should be???

Once we can get a general idea we can take off with promotion.

I would be very interested depending on the dates.

FYI, the weekend of Sept. 11-13 is Thunder in the Smokies in Maggie Valley.

Is there anything going on last weekend in Sept.? I think Dixie Run is still scheduled first weekend in Oct.(Different Location) so that is out. What is a reasonable fee for a bike event, that covers camping, food and entertainment?

Lets get some ideas.

Should be about the same cost as a 4x4 event. Perhaps a small deal on the camping, but that is up to you. I have spent between $35 and $100 for a weekend event.

I will have to calculate the cost of things, but I think that I could put on a weekend event to include the camping, Dinner and entertainment for around $50 per person, if we can get enough people to commit.

For me, that is more than reasonable for a weekend.

If we can get some folks to start posting up with interest, I think I can get things going. I don't really know what the break even is but, if we can get 50-100 people to come there will be a good donation for the Rescue Tellico Fund.

I have 6 total interested so far. It will more than likely grow the closer we get to the date.

I'm game, any weekend in Oct. is good for me. I think Dixie Run is still the first weekend in OCT. So, the second weekend will work if there is interest. It looks like this year we will be getting an earlier leaf change as I am already seeing some action on the dogwoods and cherry trees.

It would be cool to see everyone again.

I have a Dual Sport, but would most likely hold the majority up on the highway speeds because of my gearing on the bike. However, if there are some folks that have the adventure/dual sports that want to bring them I will run a tour route. we put a little of 400 miles in two days under our wheels a couple weekends ago. Keep in mind I try to stay off pavement as much as possible (70/30 range) or better.

Let's call the weekend Oct. 17 and 18th. I will come up with a dinner plan for Sat. . If anyone else has any ideas let me know. I also have a real good Paved loop for every one on the asphalt vibrators.
