Actually I'm not surprised, the Cherokee Scout is the best factually unbiased paper in the area. Very well written piece that unfortunately probably won't get the attention it deserves. As far as the majority of the population in NC is concerned nothing exists west of Asheville except whitewater rafting. Most people only know of Murphy because of the "Murphy to Manteo" saying.

The reporter is a good guy and I believe a friend of Chuck and Helen's as well. He has always done positive articles on Tellico and the visitors that come out. I going to call him Monday and see if he will meet me at Allen Gap to take some pics of the logging operation going on. It boggles the mind, that logging the area after all of the environmental crap is even an option. I could see in a few years after everyone has forgotten.

I went up there today and got some good pictures of the logging. About 200 gal of empty oil containers and big stains on the ground. Hmmm...the access road to the top of lower 2 is closed, me and my 7 year old started to hike it but...I'm just glad he gave out before I did. From the Tenn side its paved all the way to the bottom of lower 2. That made it easier for my Saturn. Got some pictures of some sort of silt collectors on trail 4 too. I've got to get to my laptop so I can upload the pics. Tonight.

That was a good article. It was good to see the money lost printed and mentioned multiple times.

Hey Danny, hope you're doing well.

I thought I'd mention the 5th Annual TTORA Southeast Takeover has been moved to Monteagle, TN this year.

Maybe give him something else to write about? Hope it helps.

Hey Colin,
I just assumed everyone was moving their events to other places this year. We are surviving by promotion of yearly lot rentals. The bad thing is that the longer this Tellico situation continues the more this place will be come a resort which will change the Crawford's atmosphere. I am holding off as long as possible, but I have to eat. The next time you see this place...the familiar boulders of the rock garden may be spread throughout as landscape interests. Kinda like tomb stones. I still have hope, but time is moving faster than my patience. Have a beer for your Homie!

HA! LOL

A well written article if you ask me with an outstanding picture. Let's not forget the event was for fun and fund raising. In the end we all have lost if this decision stands.

Danny and Chuck, I know this situation has had a direct negative impact on your businesses. You guys have always supported the sport and it's terrible so see good folks get hurt. It's important for all to know that, as we suspected and feared, not only have we suffered the loss of recreational access, this decision has also made huge negative impact on the local economy. I'm glad to see this article so everyone can have that perspective as part of the bigger picture.

I wish you all the best as you cope with this difficult situation.

Here's to not giving up the fight and the hope for a better day.

Exclamation Response

I think this was a very well thought out article it needed to be on the front page every day, it was also a very prfesional way to present the losses tn and nc have sustained and will continue if this is not settled soon. The fs leader candice is not even from around here so she only hears what her paycheck wants her to hear! Tu are a joke, most members are the ones who illegaly have thir 7 fish limit on saturdays before sun up, yet the fs does not enforce laws against them i know this from personal experience not hearsay! The people we as clubs and independants are up against have money #1 and friends in high places #2. The fs members who have made a lifetime working up there know this is wrong but just like anyone else are affraid to stir the pot for fear of loosing their carreers, pensions, retirements, and benefits.hopefully things will work out where we can all come to some kind of lets say middle of the road agreement. The fs knows exactly what has been done by clubs and individuals through out the years and those very people were never thanked in any way. Except by being forbidden to use the parks for what god intended our enjoyment for our familys and friends. More later,,,,
