dave-

It would be a good idea to post this in the land cruiser, jeep, chevy, etc. boards too. that way we can all be looking out for you.

Dont have to tell me twice...

Thanks man, I've gotten a lot of support from all of you guys. If I ever do find out who did it, Im going to keep him alive until I can drag his ass over the 'con with a tow rope and duct tape.

This rig had been in my family for 10+ years too, Some of you may have known him, some of you hated him, I know all the pirates SHOULD know him.. unless they're new, but it was Ranger Dans rig. Originally Blue front (hardly!) and a red SR5 bed off an 80 or something.

Maybe with all the postings of this, I'll lose my friggen newbie status!! :P

Thanks men!
Dave

well.. if you see someone running you down flashing your brights I really knew that truck, as we all know our trucks, so I wouldnt confuse it... anyone else though..

How long did it take until you got it back? I dont care if it has no parts, it'd let me have a fun project truck!

mexico

I hope you find your truck man and get your hands on the guys that stole it but... I'd be willing to bet that it's half way thru mexico right now. They LOVE our yota for their coffee beans they harvest in the mountains. I had a guy buy 2 92' 4x4's from me that were going right down to costa rica to harvest the coffee beans. He then called me a two weeks after he bought the first two and wanted to see if I could get him 4 more for his families coffee bean business. But here is the easy solution, go down to central america and steal one!!! 'em Really do hope you get the truck back though!!

It was two weeks I think. Now that I've invested even more money into my truck it makes me nervous. Almost worth getting the "low jack" system....

I think im going to put an on board air system, and buy a few Mack truck air horns. Wire an alarm, and them put on an extra relay to run the air horns, maybe add in a flashbang somewhere too. Or, more practical, and cheaper- Im going to wire a switch to somewhere hidden that is a direct link for the power to the coil.

How much is the lo-jack system? I've heard a few things about it, and it seems interesting

a friend of mine wired a relay into the starting circuit so that it would only turn over if both his A/C switch was on, and the truck was in reverse.. (used the switch on the tranny as part of the control circuit)

use a little creativity and you can make a hard to defeat anti-theft system using only existing switches and circuits.
and if the "key" is some random combination of things in your truck..

ikeaboy- that sounds like a good idea, It'd probably be worth the effort to wire in something like that.

I posted this all over the other forums, they're probably all sunk down to the bottom, but at least I know I got another 100~ people to see this, on top of the 1000 views its gotten

Again- Thanks for all your support guys!! If I found out who did it we can have a POR stoning for all those who participated! *note, I didnt comment on the size of the rocks!! (see above post )*

The problem with complex wiring to stop a theif....

One: if you disable the starter it can still be push started....
Two: Anyone (including me) could jump the soleniod and get it to start if I had enough time.

My brother had a friend with a awesome 73 18RG celica. He wired the IGN not to work unless you lifted your arse off the seat. Strange but it worked. The engine would turn over leaving the A$$wipe to think it just wouldnt start....

Low jack isnt cheap but well worth it. I get paranoid seeing all of the custom/built toys getting stolen on this board....

I ran 2 toggles. One to my Idle cutoff silenoid, If this is off it will still run but like shit(needed to do this anyways). And then I hid one under the dash to my hot wire to the Coil on a 30amp toggle. With the way my wiring is under the hood you would not be able to tell. Had my truck stolen once, it won't happen again.

the best alarm on the market . (K-9) you can't even get close to a rig most of the time with out these going off.

At least you still have one good truck. If you don't get your truck back swap a Toy axle into that Mazda like I'm doing. Then you'll have fuel injection.

That really sucks man. Hope you get it back.

i'm in downtown sac, and i'll be looking around. no good frickin thives. can't lift a damn finger to earn one, so they gotta steal it. i worked all through high school just to buy my 83 (2500 bucks). sometimes i wish i could confront someone stealing my rig and just beat the living shit out of them(i'm an angry child), and if it got stolen i would be permanently pissed. i know i should put some security on my rig soon. some one i know welded a fat steel plate onto the body with a fat chain welded to the plate, then had the truck locked in reverse with a huge padlock. good luck.

This shit gets old quick!! I feel your pain I lost my 1st yota awhile ago, it was recovered(joyriding I guess). Then my K-5 was broken into last week but not taken, they got spooked somehow cause they left alot of stuff they had already exposed, f--kers!! Its times like these that get the gears to spinning on some sort of alternate method of deterrance....for instance (one of my own) an inline switch diverting the spark sent from the coil to the distributer, to a lead feeding a spark plug tapped into the GAS TANk!! ....Yeah..yeah...yeah...I know the truck blows up and possibly right in front of your house, but damnit so long as its on my own terms!!!!...ok maybe I'm sharing too much with the group today but thats the feeling ya get when this shit goes down...!!!
Anyhow I hope you find your rig, and rest assured that (I think I speak for most people on this site) everyone that owns a rig on this page will have an eye out for ya!!
Good Luck!

Matt
