samurai buggy.....code name HAMMER TIME !!!
Well i started out with this......




A $300 84 yota with an 85 title that i got to run good and added some parts....

Added a propane kit from craigslist $250....(best purchase on craigslist yet)

4.70 t case gears from trail mart....

Welded the rear end up....and beat on it.....

That led to a blown motor and the purchase of this on craigs list.....$250





supposed to have had a 22r...w56 tranny and dual cases already installed and rolling on yota axles....guy lost interest...some decent fab work tho...

So i started to tear down the yota.....



Got the frame up off the ground and rollin on yota rears up front.....

Got the rear springs set up....ford rangers turned around and outboarded off the samurai frame....still need to set the rear shackles up but will wait til later...my buddy helping me giving everyone the pirate hello....



Finally got the motor in and tacked into place....made the x member out of 3/8 plate and was able to get it basically a flat belly






The reason for the build thread name "Hammer Time" is because i am leaving for koh in about a month and plane on having my buddy who owns Whiskey Bent Fab in Mesa,AZ bend a cage for it and then wheel it out in AZ and hopefully the hammers.....So the time crunch makes it a lot more fun....

man im trying....just got my welder takin from me....was using one from treys work and they had to rent it out for the weekend so im kinda f!cked for a bit.....

Anyways got the motor mounts done and tacked well.....and the cross member...going to be basically flat...







I decided with no welder for the weekend i would get the motor ready to go....new gaskets and timing chain and everything else from the other propane 22r i had....




im ready for jthacker to come over and bend some tube....

Time to bring this build thread back from the dead......ended up not getting it finished for the hammers but oh well....had a blast anyway and will be returning next year !!! Hopefully its still in Johnson valley....

Got all my tube that I ordered in and the motor should be firing this week.....I have a ton of pics to post.....will add them later tonight

our camp site that consisted of a rented ford escape and my buddy's enclosed trailer...dont forget the couch...

okay build progress


psc full hydro pump....now i just need power steering lines...already have my cooler and orbital valve


blue sea systems water proof fuse block and a small switch panel for now


lowered the tunnel to fit my seats that came with the tub.....excuse my hammer marks....this fool dont have money for some press break


how she sets now...(with two flat tires)....ready to be fired (for the most part) waiting for a cage with 1 3/4 .120 dom laying underneath.....get over here with your bender mooretoyx4

Thanks man....this is the first go around at building something from basically scratch....should be a lot easier trouble shooting problems, especially while on the trail...probably won't start bending tube til next week....

ive done a a few complete frame off custom builds and it is nice when everything is new and fresh. havent done a sami yet but my time is coming. cant wait for tube

had some time late tonight to do some more wiring and make a simple place to mount my gauges for now....




not sure which ring to use for the gauges...if you get bad ass jegs gauges like me then you can choose silver or black the red light is just tied into the main power...

might try and bend some tube tomorrow on the holiday

your right i will need some jungle drums

and you dont need a tach in indiana....i believe the proper term is "she aint reved til the rods are thrown" (drive by truckers) ....plus who needs a tach....just use valve float for a rev limiter....
