with the deal falling through with another tin top body.........I have no other choice but to put the Zuburban body back on and modify it.

this coming week will be labor intensive so I can get the body back on next weekend.

got the frame striped down and re-painted and got the 16 valve back in.

this week I will be freshening up the motor and re-installing the tranny & t-case. I had a small alignment issue that I will address before the body goes back on.

pics of the frame:

lol......I know right.

nothing like a freshly painted frame

was looking at the rear where the stock tank goes........ I think I am going to see if I can get a 15 gallon fuel cell under there and seeing how I am building a bed I might be able to raise it up a little for axle clearance.

Note:

bed will not be attached to main body.......... when I build this extended cab truck it will be a truck with a bed

What wheelbase you shooting for? Might be a good time to stretch it a bit.

I fit a 17 gallon tank from summit under mine during the round 2 build up. I didnt have any problems hitting it on anything at the Hammers etc. Now i have a little over 10 and it would be nice to have more for longer trips

honestly I never actually added it up until now

if stock wheelbase = 80"

I added 22" ...... so I am at 102" wheelbase

I am leaving it at that.

Nice, i didnt realize you stretched it that much the first build.

What are you planning on for the bed? Getting the back half of a soft top tub and using that with the pickup tailgate mod would look rad

the bed will be:

- rear quarters from a vert samurai

I know I will have to add some sheet metal here and there.

My thoughts for the front wall of the bed ...... I am going to try and use a vert tail gate. So that will be a total of (2) tail gates.

going to kinda square box the rear fenders.

On my original zuk I did the norm and chopped the body off right after the doors. The tailgate fit perfectly for sealing off the bottom portion.

Im looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I loved your burban build

got a lot done today:

now....... before I post pictures I want to say this:

In a way I wish I never had to cut Zuburban becaause other members had a hand in building it. Ben (aka:zukitough) had a large roll in this with welding the body .............

on the other hand I am glad I did...............REASON..........a part of Art is still with this truck. That means that it still means something to me. I hope you all understand my thought process.

All in all ....... bottom line is that I fell good about this and I am moving on........... well.......LOL...... there is no turning back at this point

yup.........

I had a line on another tin top..........fella said he would take $250 for it.......... after several attempts to try and make contact with him.........no response....... so I did what I had to do.

I am glad I did it because Art will still be with the build.

weather supposed to be decent rest of the week.... my goal is to get the rear piece tacked in and cut the sides once more to separate and start making the truck bed.

Update:

removed those rough pics from earlier post.....

got quiet a bit done today. I have the extended cab section almost completely welded in. Will finish up welding it tomorrow after work and then get the rear door up in there to check for fitment.

I loved Zuburban, but I am really excited about this build.

Better Pics:

This is going to be really cool.

Atleast by cutting this one you will save the time of making a box to match the body
