Instrument cluster dead.

I'm going to scream! First the starter will not work... Checked again and missed the little wire on the bottom, and the starter now works. Still not starting up tho. But now the instrument panel doesn't light up. (like the ALT and other lights just below the gauges) I can deal with spark issues, but this is confusing me to no end.

Its an 88.5 Sammy. All the fuses are good. All connectors plugged in, no cut wires. Radio still turns on and off with the key (aftermarket). Checked the service manual and, 'yes' I have been using the magic search button. Still no bueno... Is there a relay for the gauge cluster or a fuse somewhere that I don't know about?

Check your grounds and make sure they're good, maybe even make a few of your own. Remember you need:

*motor to frame ground(s).
*motor to body ground(s).
*frame to body ground(s).

more the merrier!

I checked the grounds and added some more. Still nothing. The lights in the gauge cluster light up. And the dimmer works fine. Its the display just below that that has all the warning lights on it that no longer works. Also I just realized that the solenoid on the carb no longer makes any clicking noise when i turn the key... that quit working at the same time too.

Fixed! Almost dont believe it. A fuse that dosent look blown whatsoever was the problem. It wasnt charred, damaged, dirty, cracked, nothing. It looks just fine. It just didnt work. I have never seen that happen before.
